Year 1 Adventures: Exploring Health and Safety
This term, our Year 1 students have been focused on learning about health and safety. They've been exploring the inner workings of the human body and discovering various ways to stay healthy. Thanks to Coles, we were able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the students to taste and learn from.
We also received valuable insights from St John's Ambulance during a presentation on basic first aid. Ms. Besic, an Oral Health Educator, visited us to teach the children about proper dental care. Additionally, we emphasized the importance of sun safety and regular exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
In terms of safety, we covered a range of topics, including online safety and road safety. Our students participated in a very successful road safety incursion where they learned essential skills for safely navigating roads with their scooters and bikes.
Looking ahead, our Year 1 students are excited about the upcoming pet safety session and the opportunity to run a plant stall to raise funds for The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
PRIMARY DISTRICT SWIMMING
On Wednesday 6th March, Lakeside College sent a small, but competitive squad of primary swimmers to the SSV Officer district swimming carnival held at Noble Park Aquatic Centre.
Our team of 8 swimmers came away with some great results whether they be placings or personal bests.
Congratulations to the following students for representing Lakeside College:
Ivy M
Alarah W
Mia M
Harper B
Ashton P
Harlan P
Neel P
Kaden K
A special mention to both Alarah (backstroke) and Harper (breaststroke) who placed first in their events- which has them qualify to compete at the next divisional carnival. Good luck girls!
