Cultural Dance Opportunity

Our Indigenous students in Years 2 - 10 are being given the opportunity to learn contemporary Aboriginal dance with Shae Duncan from Yulugi Marumali on a Tuesday afternoons every week for term one at 3.20pm - 4.20pm, starting Tuesday 20th of Feb. Students will be offered afternoon tea before commencing their lesson. Parents will need to collect their children from school at 4.20pm, from the Gwydir Street gate (near the hall). Please contact our AEA team to express your child's interests. 

 

Murri Yulu Gaay Dance Group 

Our Murri Yulu Gaay Dance group have been invited by Mrs Karen Tighe to dance on country as special guests for the NSW Police Force whilst they hold an event at Myall Creek. 

When: 20th of March 2024 

Where: Myall Creek

Transport: Students will travel with AEA staff & Cathy Downes to Myall Creek via bus. A compass event will be sent to parents for students in the group. 

CSNSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander State Education Conference 

Selected students have been invited to take part in secondary & primary dance groups with Schools from Walgett, Wee Waa & Narrabri to perform for the conference. Students who have been selected would have received permission notes & will receive compass. 

Dancers will have dance workshops: 

Secondary & Primary - 1st March - Moree 

Primary - 29th May - Walgett 

 

The Australian Government has established the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) to provide free home internet for up to 30,000 unconnected families with school aged students until the end of December, 2025.

To be eligible for SSBI, families must: 

Have a child living at home that is enrolled in a school (up to year 12 including Prep in Qld/Vic/Tas, Kindy in NSW, Reception in SA, Transition in NT/ACT and Pre-Primary in WA).

  • Not have an active nbn® network internet service at home. Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility.
  • Live in a premises that can access the nbn network via a standard connection.
     
  • Not have had an active nbn connection during the previous 14 days.
