Principal's Report

Dear families,

FOUNDATION STUDENTS

It has been wonderful to watch the enthusiasm our Foundation students have for their learning. Recently we have purchased some Story Book Books written by Joy Cowley. They have been around for several years, but they have become firm favourites with the students. Titles such as The Jigaree, Mrs Wishy Washy, Hairy Bear and Dan the Flying Man may be familiar to some of you.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS CLUB

Due to several members of Parents and Friends being unable to make our Annual General Meeting last night it has been rescheduled to Monday 4th at 7.30pm in the staff room. At this meeting we will elect our office bearers, set meeting dates, and set out our planning for the 2024 year. Hopefully by rescheduling this meeting more people will be able to attend.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Interviews will take place next week. Please make sure you go onto XUNO and select a time suitable for you. There is the choice of a phone call or an in-person interview. Tomorrow is the last day for booking an interview.

URSTRONG

A big thank you to those families who took the time to view the session last week. Today is the last day the recording is available to view so if you haven’t seen it, I would encourage you to do so. These are some of my takeaways from the session.

Friendship Facts

  1. No friendship, relationship, is perfect. (Sometimes we do get on each other’s nerves.)
  2. Every friendship is different. If something is not working. Talk about (WWW)
    • What works with the friendship?
    • What doesn’t work?
    • What is the plan?
  3. Trust and respect are the two most important qualities.
  4. Friendships change and that’s ok. It is ok for people to decide to make new friends.

The Friend-O-Meter is a way to identify how you are feeling about your friendships.

  • Surround yourselves with happy people, people who are in the green zone.
  • Never whisper in front of other people
  • Body language matters, be inclusive of other people.
  • When you gather to talk, a horse shoe shape is more inclusive than  a circle.
  • A Friendship Fire is a misunderstanding between friends.
  • Being Mean on Purpose is different, it is deliberate.
  • Friendship Fires get bigger if you don’t talk it out.
  • It just has to be the two of you , you don’t need others to make the fire bigger.
  • Tell your friend how you feel. Use WWW
  • If someone is Mean on Purpose.
    • Use a quick “comeback."
    • If this doesn’t work, walk away
    • If this doesn’t work, tell a grownup/teacher. They need to help you.
    • We need to be kind to each other.

Next Tuesday, the Shepparton News is coming to commence work on their commemorate lift out for our 150-year celebration. They would like to interview a child from each class. The names will be drawn out at assembly next Monday. Parents will be notified if their child is selected.
