Year 11 2024 Course Changes

Any request for course changes needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Students will be able to make changes up until the end of Week 3, Term 1 (16 February).  Please contact CurriculumSupport@allsaints.wa.edu.au to request changes. It is a College requirement that students undertake six courses in Year 11.

Year 12 2024 Course Changes and Withdrawals

Any request for course changes needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Please be aware that, under WACE regulations, students must complete units as pairs, and will not be permitted to change courses after Week 4, Term 1 (23 February). Students have until the end of Term 2 to withdraw from a complete course, providing that WACE achievement requirements are still met.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN)

Wednesday, 13 March – Monday, 25 March 2024

NAPLAN is a national assessment, and all Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students are expected to participate. The tests are designed to provide a summative, nationally comparable understanding of student performance in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. No undue emphasis is placed on these tests. They provide some valuable information to teachers, parents and students. However, those results do not have an impact on their school reports. Assessments completed over the year are the best indicator of your child’s progress during this time.

The schedule for the Term 1 NAPLAN assessments and further information can be found on MyASC under Curriculum Information. For more information about NAPLAN, visit nap.edu.au

OLNA – ROUND 1, Monday, 22 April – Friday, 03 May 2024 (Term 2)

OLNA is an online literacy and numeracy assessment. It is designed to enable students to successfully meet the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirement of demonstrating the minimum standard of literacy and numeracy.

Students who have achieved the required standard of the three components of reading, writing and numeracy in their Year 9 NAPLAN are acknowledged as having demonstrated proficiency in using a range of ACSF Level 3 skills in that component, and will not be required to sit the corresponding OLNA component.

Year 11 and 12 students who have not met the minimum standard will be required to sit the OLNA Round 1 test. Relevant parents/guardians will receive information via email at the end of this term. OLNA Information for Parents/Carers brochure is available online HERE.

Year 10 students who have not met the minimum standard will have an opportunity to sit OLNA later in the year, with further information to follow in due course.

CHANGE OF CONTACT DETAILS

Please submit any change in contact details via the Parent Gateway on SEQTA by the end of Week 4 (23 February) to ensure the registration and demographic upload to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) is correct.

Whole school data:

2024 STUDENT RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS AND OTHER INFORMATION COLLECTION

The College is required each year to provide information to the Australian Government regarding students’ residential addresses, in line with Department of Education requirements. This year’s collection date is Wednesday 13 March 2024. This information is used to ensure federal funding arrangements for non-government schools are based on need, and are fair and transparent. Full details are given in the document “Collection Notice for parents/guardians of students: 2024 Student Residential Address and Other Information”.

To ensure that the data we provide to the Federal Government is accurate, we ask parents and guardians to update their information on my MyASC before 2 March 2024 to reflect any recent changes of residential address.

From Mrs Jeanette Sealy, Director of Senior School (Student Wellbeing)

Welcome to the start of the 2024 academic year and, in particular, to students and families who are new to the College. We hope that your time at the College is a rewarding, enriching and memorable experience.

As a community we live by our values of:

Empathy: seeking to understand the perspective and experience of others

Respect: for self and others, for community and environment

Integrity: acting with moral strength and grace, guided by humility and compassion

Courage: to be our best selves

TUTOR GROUPS FOR TERM 1 2024

Your child’s Tutor Group teacher and room allocation is on their timetable. Tutor Group teachers will make contact with each family within the first two weeks of the school year.

UNIFORM TERM 1

A reminder that students commence the new academic year in summer uniform (and, with many students growing across the summer break, it may be timely to check that uniforms still fit appropriately).

In the interests of having all our students wearing their College uniform proudly and correctly, the following reminders about our Uniform Standards Guide may be helpful:

  • Dress hems should be on the middle of the knee.
  • The College shoe is a (polished) black lace-up with leather uppers (suede, patent leather, patterns, slip-ons, stack and platform heels are not part of the College uniform.)
  • For safety reasons, shoes worn with our Physical Education uniform must be fit-for-purpose sport shoes (ie runners, joggers). Surf, skate, walk or casual shoes are not appropriate, and canvas shoes (including Dunlop Volleys, Vans, Skechers and similar styles) are a safety concern when playing sport and as such are not to be worn either.
  • Clean and neatly brushed hair is to be of an appropriate hairstyle (ie avoiding extremes of cut, style or colour).
  • Boys and girls are asked to tie back collar-length or longer hair, with the tie point at the mid-line of the head. Students are asked not to have hair falling forwards, covering their eyes or face.
  • Hair ties or ribbons should be College pale blue, dark blue or white. Similarly, head bands / combs / elastics / clips are to be natural hair colour, pale blue or dark blue.
  • Students must always have their face clean shaven.
  • Students may wear small, plain gold or silver stud or sleepers in ear lobes only – one in each ear. (Plastic retainers are not permitted.)
  • Students wearing boys’ shirts are asked to tuck them into shorts with a belt.

An infographic outlining the correct summer uniform is shown below, along with guidelines on when sport and formal uniforms are to be worn.

Thank you as a collective community for supporting these standards of College dress and appearance.

COMMUNICATING WITH SENIOR SCHOOL STAFF AND APPOINTMENT REQUESTS

All Saints’ College recognises that the partnership we have with our families enables us to achieve our best work in promoting wellbeing and optimising the education of our children. To help maintain efficient and effective communication between the College and home, it is helpful if all communication and requests for appointments with staff are made in a timely manner. Sending an email the night before a required appointment or reporting to Reception without a confirmed appointment with a staff member often leads to disappointment, as staff are likely to have prior commitments.

VISITORS TO THE COLLEGE

In the interest of safety, the College has a defined procedure for accessing the College. Parents/visitors are required to report to Junior or Senior School Reception. A visitor’s badge will be issued which provides clear identification. To ensure the safety of all students, parents and visitors are not authorised to access College grounds during the day without following this procedure, and we thank you for your support in this.

STUDENT LATENESS AND ABSENCES

The College has processes in place regarding student lateness and absence from school, in order to ensure that all students are accounted for. All students are expected to be at school between 8.30am and 3.25pm. In Senior School, variations to these attendance times should be communicated to student.services@allsaints.wa.edu.au

DUTY OF CARE, DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP ZONES

The College provides supervision of students between 8.00am and 3.40pm on school days. Students should not be at the College outside these times unless they are involved in a structured and supervised program. The College is not responsible for the Duty of Care of students outside these clear parameters. Parents are requested to make appropriate arrangements regarding drop-off and collection times for their children.

Please ensure that you use the appropriate College drop-off and pick-up zones. These zones have been established to ensure the safest path for the dropping off and collection of children.

Students are not to be dropped off or collected in a bus bay, as these are reserved for the private bus service and Transperth buses. Bus bays are clearly signposted. Students are not to be dropped off or collected through Gate 4 (staff gate only), inclusive of the Uniform Store car park.  Students have access to these areas, and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Please follow the correct procedure when dropping off and collecting students.

PULSE

The College will continue to use Pulse, an online platform to collect and analyse student wellbeing and engagement data. The weekly 60-second wellbeing check-in encourages students to reflect on their mental, social and physical wellbeing.

Key points for 2024 school immunisation program

  • All students require parent/guardian consent before they receive any vaccinations at school.
  • VaccinateWA (VWA) online platform will be used to gain parent/carer consent for student vaccinations. Please see the “how to register your child and provide consent section for VWA” HERE.
  • Help is available to families who have not been able to register online and need further assistance from the SBIP Team.
  • For information about paper-based consent forms, see the above link.
  • Information about the vaccinations, including translated versions are also available at the above link.
  • The SBIP teams strive for a 100% response rate for consent/declination responses from the parents of eligible students. Although all efforts will be made to receive a response from parents, there may be some parents who do not complete consent.

 Catch-up Vaccinations:

  • Due to the impact of the pandemic and in the interest of Public Health, the Teams are continually striving to improve adolescent immunisation rates in the community.
  • SBIP may seek parent/guardian contact information for follow-up.
  • Students who are absent on immunisation days will be offered a catch-up at the next scheduled SBIP visit. Parents/guardians also have the option of accessing these vaccines through their local Service Provider (GP, Pharmacy, Community Immunisation Clinic).

Consent:

The 2024 School Based Immunisation Program utilises an online platform.

  • Please use the VaccinateWA online platform to complete your child’s consent.
  • For detailed instructions on how to register your child, including information relating to the relevant disease transmission and symptoms, please visit School-based immunisation program (healthywa.wa.gov.au)

Or complete:

  • A paper-based immunisation consent form obtained through the College or via the HealthyWA website.
  • Please sign and return to the school, even if consent is declined.
  • NOTE: Paper-based consent forms will be entered onto VaccinateWA and you will receive an email confirming this.
  • All vaccines provided will be recorded in the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

How to access your child’s immunisation records:

Parents/guardians can check their child’s vaccination (up to age 14 years).

Parents are not able to view their child’s immunisation history once the child turns 14. Parents can assist students to create their own MyGov account to view their immunisation status.

UPDATING PERSONAL DETAILS

In keeping with our commitment to positive student wellbeing, it is essential that we have up-to-date and accurate information about our students. This information is used by relevant staff to support and care for our students. In 2024 families are asked to log on to MyASC and enter our protected Parent Gateway to view and update information about yourself and your child/ren currently attending the College.

If you have not logged on to All Saints’ MyASC before, or you are not aware of your username and/or password, you can use the username/password recovery system using the MyASC link on the College website, or you are welcome to call our Technology Support Centre on 08 9313 9363 during school hours for assistance.

It is important to note that anyone who has access to your username and password to the system is able to make changes to such details, with or without your knowledge. Please ensure that this information is securely kept to maintain the integrity and accuracy of information provided to the College.

I hope that 2024 brings great success, happiness and fulfilment to all members of our College community.

Emergency Contacts for Students

Parents/guardians are requested to provide two Emergency Contacts for students. In the case of an emergency, the College will always seek to contact a parent in the first instance. Emergency Contacts are people whom we can contact in the unlikely event of not being able to contact a parent/guardian – they really are a ‘just in case’ provision – and for that reason need to be people other than parents.

For that reason we ask that parents/guardians do not put themselves down as Emergency Contacts. Please use the Parent Gateway in MyASC to provide these details.
