Principal's News

Courage, Faith, Love

Dear parents and friends of St Agatha's Primary School,

I hope this newsletter finds you well as we embrace the season of Lent, a period of reflection, prayer, and preparation leading up to Easter. As we journey through this significant time, let us take a moment to reflect on the importance of faith, love, and community.

In the spirit of the Lenten season, we invite you to join us in prayer and giving. Please read the Religious Education News in this newsletter to learn more about how we are preparing for Easter through our Project Compassion activities that the Mini Vinnie student leaders are leading under the direction of our Religious Education Leader - Rose Howell.

This week we launched Breakfast Club. Thanks to Mel Lindsay for her hard work in planning and orchestrating this initiative. Breakfast Club will operate each Wednesday morning from 8:30am - 8:50am. It is free and includes any student who may like a piece of toast before school.

Next week, our student leaders will conduct school tours, showcasing the vibrant learning environment we provide. We have had a lot of interest from existing and new families who have booked into one of the tours using the new enrolment enquiry feature of our school's website. Our enrolments for 2025 are now open. If you have a child turning 5 before April 30 they may be eligible to enrol for Foundation next year. We encourage you to contact the office for enrolment form as soon as possible. Places are already filling fast!

Recently, our dedicated teachers have been enhancing their skills in the area of social emotional learning through professional training with Pearsons. This ensures our students receive the best support to develop emotionally and socially. Our Wellbeing Leader Emily Prince has recently completed training as our Mental Health in Primary Schools leader. Please read the Wellbeing News to learn more about what is happening to support our students' mental health.

New Additions to our Wellbeing Team: I am pleased to introduce Ms. Rozanne Perera, student from Monash University who is learning to be a counsellor. Ms. Perera brings a wealth of experience and expertise to guide and support our students through various challenges and will work under the guidance of Catherine Backhouse our School Counsellor.

Additionally, we welcome Ms. Rebecca Bernal as our Student Wellbeing Officer. She will work closely with families on student engagement, attendance, and the grief and loss program - SEASONS. We believe that Ms. Bernal's presence will greatly contribute to the overall well-being of our school community.

Upcoming Events:

NAPLAN Testing: Students in Years 3 and 5 will be undertaking NAPLAN testing in the coming weeks. We appreciate your support in ensuring a calm and focused environment for our students during this time.

Year 6 Camp: Excitement is building as our Year 6 students prepare for their upcoming camp. This immersive experience promises both educational and personal growth opportunities.

Harmony Day: In celebration of our diverse community, we will be observing Harmony Day. Students are encouraged to wear colors or dress representing their country of origin and bring along an Easter egg for our Easter raffle.

As always, we are grateful for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.

Wishing you a reflective Lenten season.

Michelle Bruitzman

Heavenly Father, during this season of Lent, grant us the strength to reflect on our actions, seek forgiveness, and renew our commitment to living a life of compassion and love. Amen.
