Scotsburn Parent Volunteer Roster
As you are all aware, at Scotsburn we rely heavily on volunteers to help us run the programs that we do, and we love and appreciate all the support that we get. Please see below the link to the Term 1 Scotsburn volunteer roster. We would love as many parents as possible to sign up for a little or as much as you would like. If you haven’t volunteered with us before, we will be there to help along the way. If the document is not working for you, please come in and see us and we can add you to the list.
Please remember that we will need a copy of your Working With Children’s check if we don’t already have it on file. Scotsburn Parent Volunteering 2024
Family Groups
It has been wonderful to see the students encouraging, helping and enjoying each other's company during Family Groups on a Friday. We have been lucky enough in cooking to be using some ‘school and home grown’ ingredients in cooking, really making that connection between fresh food and sustainable practices.
Students planted some more vegetables and herbs in the garden on Friday afternoon as well so we can’t wait to harvest these as well once they have grown.
Term 1 Reading Night Award
With more and more of our ‘Scotsburn Super Star Readers’ either reaching or getting close to reaching 25 nights of reading, we have decided on our award. All students that reach 25 nights of reading for Term 1 will be invited to make a pizza for lunch on the last day of term - Thursday 28th March. Thank you parents for encouraging your child to read at home and supporting their reading development.
Baby News
We would like to congratulate Kirsty Robinson and her husband Stuart who are expecting another baby! Kirsty will be finishing up in early June. Leadership will be going through the recruitment process mid-Term 2 and will announce her replacement once all is finalised.
SC1 Learning Snapshot
We are now halfway through the term, where has the time gone? Preps will now commence school full time and we look forward to having them at school with us five days a week.
The students are now in a brilliant routine of coming to school each day and completing their daily routine. Being at school between 8:45 and 8:50 am supports your students in being ready to learn by 9 am when we launch into our daily spelling routine.
Next week we have our inter house cross country on Friday 15th March. Each child is assigned a ‘house colour’ that can be found in your child’s profile. Students are encouraged to wear their house colour on the day. Parents are welcome to come along on the day. The time of your child’s race will be communicated in the newsletter.
We hope you have a great week and we look forward to sharing with you next week all the fun from the Teddy Bears Picnic today.
Thanks.
Ana and Kirsty
SC2 Learning Snapshot
It has been so wonderful to see SC2 demonstrating such consistent learning behaviours and routines in the classroom. We have been working so hard on promoting each other in the class as learners, and they way that they all support each other is amazing to see. It really is a great class culture at the moment.
In English, we have been working on summarising both fiction and non-fiction texts. This week we are moving onto making informed predictions, using the clues we can find in the text. Our narrative stories are beginning to come together, and we will also be having a look at the structure and style of persuasive texts this week, in preparation for our upcoming NAPLAN assessments for Grade 3s and Grade 5s.
In Maths, we have continued the structure of applying our number facts to measurement, this week moving onto the concepts of area and perimeter. The students are grasping these concepts well, and accessing lots of extension in their learning, which is great to see.
Today SC2 are participating in the Interhouse Athletics. We look forward to a fun and exciting day, full of smiles and personal bests.
Have another awesome week everyone!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
