Car Park

Speed

The school is a very busy place in the mornings and afternoons with many children walking alongside and through the carpark. Our carpark speed is walking pace only and vehicles should be driving no faster than 10km/h. Please drive carefully and thank you for keeping our children safe.

Kiss and Drop

Please ensure that you are moving forward as far as possible along the Kiss and Drop zone before collecting and dropping off your students.

Reverse Parking

When parking along the path near the oval please be aware how far your car is hanging into this walk space.

School Absences

Please don't forget, if your child is going to be absent from school you will need to notify both their classroom teacher and the front office. This can be done via email. The front office email is: admin@gspv.sa.edu.au

This helps us ensure that your child is safe and accounted for, and that we have the correct information regarding their absence.

Siblings

If you have not yet submitted an enrolment application for any siblings of current students, please do so as soon as possible to ensure a position is available, the sooner the better! Your prompt attention to this is greatly appreciated. Enrolment applications can be collected and returned to the front office.

Growing Faith At Home

The title of this week’s resource is ‘Lent is a time to worship God from the heart’. Here are some conversation starters to use with your family

Describe what it means to worship God.

What stops you from worshipping God?

What helps you?

The resource offers other ideas for you to try out at home.

This Lent resource is especially for those who enjoy paper folding activities. It is an Easter Cross Craft. Love to see a photograph of your finished work!

God bless your week!

Seasons for Growth

Seasons for Growth is an 8- week program for children who have had changes occur in their families through death, separation, divorce or related circumstances. It has been run at Good Shepherd for many years now and each year we see the fruit of children having an opportunity to process change in a safe, supportive group. We have normally run groups for stages 2,3 and 4 in term two but are open to running one this term if the need is there. The groups run for 45 minutes once a week.  Children join the group with parent permission, at the suggestion of a parent and/or their teacher.

If you think your children might benefit from this valuable program, or have more questions about it, please contact;

Renee Baker renee.baker@gspv.sa.edu.au

Sonia Hulme sonia.hulme@gspv.sa.edu.au

and we will be in touch.

More information on the program is available at https://www.mackillopseasons.org.au/programs/seasons-for-growth-children-and-young-people/

Student Leadership Team

Yesterday our Student Leadership team attended the Halogen National Young Leaders Day at the Adelaide Convention Centre. They were privileged to hear from (and meet!) Premier Peter Malinauskas where he shared that "the heart of leadership is not simply what you do, but why you do it!"

Book Review

When the world is a constant whirlwind of parenting decisions, work, school, family, events, and appointments, tension and worry may surface and we can find it difficult to manage. A Stage 2 parent reviewed 'Anxious Kids Anxious Parents' by R Wilson and L Lyons and has shared their thoughts...

"A therapist recommended the book Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents by R Wilson and L Lyons to help me understand and support the daily anxiety my child faces as part of her neurological condition.

After the explanation of the root cause of anxiety (our amygdala in the brain), we can understand that worry is normal and when we can expect it to happen. However, we do not have to let worry rule our lives and the authors describe 7 keys to solving problems with anxiety. Exposure therapy helps us confront our fears. I enjoyed reading this book as it expanded my understanding of anxiety and reinforced that how I have approached my own anxiety as an adult was a healthy approach."

Are you aware we have a Parent Resource library? This book is available for loan as part of this service, please see our friendly library staff for assistance.
