A message from Early Stage 1

As it is our final newsletter for 2024, we want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing journey our Kindergarten students have embarked upon. This year has been filled with laughter, learning, and growth, and we are so proud of each and every one of our young learners.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout the year. We wish you and your families a joyful holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for our Kinders as they move forward in their learning journey!

English

We are learning to:

identify and understand plurals (cats, dogs, pigs)
use the suffix ‘s’ at the end of words to change the meaning (cat = 1 cat, cats = more than one)
identify informative texts
understand that informative texts contain facts
write informative texts.

Mathematics

We are learning to:

describe and compare volumes
identify how many groups, how many in each group and to count to find the total
share into equal groups and count to find how many are in each group.

Integrated Learning

We are learning to:

describe the movement of a variety of animals in terms of the motions involved
use our knowledge of forces (pushes and pulls) to explain the movement of animals.

Personal Development and Health (PDH)

We are learning to:

explore the importance of healthy food and drinks in our everyday lives
identify the safe administration and storage of medicines.

This term, Kindergarten students have been exploring ways to stay safe in various situations. We were fortunate to have Rachel and her dog, Kari, visit us to share important safety strategies regarding dogs. Additionally, the Armidale Fire Brigade took time out of their busy schedule to teach us how to respond in case of a fire emergency. A big thank you to Miss Frizell for coordinating these valuable experiences!
