Principal's Message

Things certainly don't slow down at Ben Venue as the end of the year approaches. The pictures below capture just a snapshot of the learning and connection occurring across our classrooms in the past fortnight. You can see our amazing performing artists, writers engaging in feedback conversations, designing and coding of 'battlebots', Year 6 buddies connecting with Kinder students, step-up activities, leaders visiting the aged care facility, current Kindergarteners playing with future Ben Venue students, as well as enjoying responsible pet ownership and fire truck visits.

Our step-up sessions continued today, preparing students transitioning into a new stage in 2025. This fortnight, students will be completing feedback surveys on their schooling experience this year. Next week, we will hold our Celebrations of Learning.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Creative Arts Showcase last week. It was wonderful to showcase the diverse performing talents of our students. Thank you to the teachers, support staff and P&C members who worked behind the scenes to make the evening a success. Special recognition also to Michelle Porter, Sarah Farmer and Lana Howlett for leading the event.

Achievements of our P&C

Ben Venue is fortunate to enjoy the support of an active P&C. The Ben Venue P&C, led by Jodie Andrew, has been focused on financially supporting school initiatives through fundraising activities and providing opportunities for families to connect over a meal at school events.

This week, the P&C will contribute $7150 to the purchase of new and additional laptops for use in Stage 1, 2 and 3 classrooms.

The P&C will also fully fund the new mural, which should be completed before students return to school next year.  The artwork, by Dave and Narmi Widders,

symbolises the coming together of diverse individuals for education at our school. The colours used clearly connect to our school and bridge traditional and modern Aboriginal artistic styles.

The P&C is also financially supporting the most significant playground upgrade for our school in many years - a shaded bouldering wall, obstacle trail and tiered seating space in the area above the multipurpose court. I look forward to sharing design drawings for this project when they become available.

So a huge 'thank you' to our P&C and also to everyone who supports their fundraising initiatives. For those who have ordered mangoes - these will be available for collection from the school on Wednesday 4 December. An update on the collection location and window will be provided on Tuesday.
