Respect and our Remembrance Day Assembly

A big congratulations to all our Maramba students for the respect they showed during our recent Assembly, which marked Remembrance Day. It is wonderful to have opportunities like these to reinforce our school values, celebrate achievements, and encourage positive behaviours. Our values of Respect, Resilience, Positive Relationships, and Responsibility align perfectly with the spirit of Remembrance Day, and our students truly embodied these values on the day.

Writing Excellence

Writing proficiency is central to student success during the school years, and it influences personal and vocational outcomes post school. The importance of writing as a communication and learning tool cannot be overstated. Writing is one of the most challenging skills for students to learn, as it does not develop on its own. It requires a lot of instruction and practice for students to become good writers. I am so proud of the creative writing done by our students in Years 5 and 6. Check it out:

Parent Payments

Throughout 2024, our school has invested in resources, technology upgrades, facilities and a variety of curriculum and extra-curricular programs, made possible by the unwavering support of our wonderful families. As we look ahead to 2025, we remain committed to delivering a quality teaching and learning program while continuing to enhance and upgrade our school’s facilities. The parent payment requests were made in October under the Department of Education and Training's Parent Payments Policy. All parent payments and contributions can be made by QKR.

The school appreciates that families may sometimes experience financial difficulty in meeting payment requests. A number of support options are available to parents including the school's second-hand uniform shop, State Schools Relief or the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.

Student Spotlight

This week, we are shining a spotlight on a group of students who are involved in the Scouts program outside of school, where they develop a variety of practical skills that contribute to their personal growth. They were interviewed about the reasons they think it is a good program to join.

Student Interviews:

Name of the person being interviewed	Q.1 What do you enjoy about Scouts and why?	Q.2 How long have you been attending?	Q.3 What is one reason you would give others about why they should join?
Renette	I like that you can experience new things and learn new skills. For example, I learnt how to do origami.	Since last term	You can learn new skills.
Katya	Scouts have lots of fun activities such as camping, hiking, rewards, and you get to earn badges. It helps you have different experiences.	Probably for a year and a half now	You can experience new things.
Axel	I enjoy that we can play games, make our own little fires on camp and cook food. I also like rock climbing.	At least one year	You learn what it is like to be in the bush.
Joseph	I enjoy all of the fun activities and I like teamwork.	Since the start of Term 4	You get to practise different skills.
Toby	I like Scouts because it is multicultural just like our school. We can make new friends and achieve things you have never tried before. It is entertaining and fun.	Since October last year	You can meet new people.
Felix	I like it because I get to see friends and do fun activities, such as camping and bike riding.	Just this term	It is really fun and engaging?
Freya	I love lowering and raising the flags every Monday.	Since the middle of the year	You will be able to see and meet us plus it’s fun!
Kit	I like fun activities because they are just fun. My favourite one is making the drums.	I think I have attended three Mondays	You get to have heaps of fun!

Year 1 Maths

A big congratulations to our Year 1 students for their outstanding efforts on their Number Think Board

this week! The students were challenged with four problems, each focusing on one of the four key mathematical operations:

Addition
Subtraction
Multiplication
Division

Not only did the students work diligently to solve each problem, but they also demonstrated a strong understanding of various strategies, including:

Groups of
Arrays
Split model
MAB (Multi-Link Abacus Blocks)
Skip counting
Vertical addition and subtraction

We are so proud of their progress and dedication to mastering these essential skills!

Foundation 2025

We have enjoyed three transition sessions with our

2025 Foundation students who have been fantastic in settling in at school.

Transition 2025

As 2024 comes to a close, we start looking ahead to 2025. Next year, we will welcome a new cohort of Foundation students while bidding farewell to our Year 6 students from 2024.

Student Free Day

Just a reminder to all parents and carers that Monday November 25th will be a student free day, as this is the school wide Professional Planning Day for all staff. Staff will use this day to prepare for 2025. We look forward to seeing students on Tuesday November 26th.

End of Year Celebrations

In the final week of school the 2024 Year 6 students will participate in a range of activities to celebrate their final year of primary school:

During the final assembly, Foundation students and 2W students will be singing a Christmas song. We will also be drawing our Christmas Raffle.
