Welcome

In this edition of MY FUTURE Careers News, we are about to enter our End of Year Exam period. It is vitally important that our Year 11 students perform to their best ability, as increasingly some universities use Year 11 results to help determine Early Entry offers to courses in 2026.

I recently spoke to our Year 11 cohort about the importance of the exam period in their Wellbeing lesson, and explained the importance of contributing to community whether it be here at school or in their general community such as sporting clubs. This may enable them to qualify for the Aspire Community Contribution Program at La Trobe University. This scheme rewards students for their community contribution by lowering the entry ATAR to all La Trobe courses. I encourage all students to apply in Year 12.

In addition, this edition includes information on

  • Information sessions for a range of tertiary institutions
  • Change of Preference Events for Year 12 students
  • Apprenticeship and traineeship FAQs
  • How to become a Power Systems Engineer
  • 5 out-of-this-world space careers
  • How to use the school holidays for skill building.
