Cheerleading Club

Lunchtime Clubs are a 'buzz' at Mackellar, to say the least!  Our Cheerleading Club is facilitated by one of our amazing parents, Liz Reffke, who has generated a great deal of excitement around the school, teaching our students cheerleading skills.  Aside from building a sense of unity and community spirt, there are various benefits to cheerleading, such as; fostering multiple social skills in the way of teamwork and personal confidence, and strengthening physical awareness, fitness and strength.

Here is the Cheerleading Club (below) performing for our school community for the very first time at last Monday morning's assembly.  It was obvious they'd rehearsed for the event with their magnificent teamwork, dance moves and rhythm.  I wonder if our students realise just how much actual 'cheer' they brought to their audience; there were beaming smiles throughout the gymnasium!  Liz is so proud of them and she's already planning their next performance.

We are immensely grateful to Liz for taking the time every week to teach our students cheerleading.  Since the performance, Liz has more enthusiastic recruits who cannot wait to join her Thursday lunchtime classes. We are looking forward to sharing news about our other parent-led and student-led clubs in our next edition.

Kind Regards,
