Early Years Visual Art News
We over halfway through Term 4 already! This has been a very busy term in the Early Years Art room. Students have outdone themselves again with their amazing Visual Art creations. Many artworks are on display around the Early Years buildings and are receiving endless compliments from staff, students and families. Again, the positive feedback for Visual Arts this year has been absolutely overwhelming. To everyone, thank you!

Students have made sticky, icky Wombat Stew, Magic possums, Dancing kangaroos, Colourful emus, Emu eggs with chicks, Baby wombats, Flying butterflies and, of course, Hungry Caterpillars.
Grade 1s
Hard working Grade 1 students have been exploring all things ‘Under the Sea’ and have made adorable baby turtles, surprising sharks, jiggling jellyfish, rainbow fish and beautiful pearls in clamshells.
Grade 2s
Grade 2 students have been investigating the colourful world of Dr Seuss stories. Students have drawn their own version of the Cat in the Hat for their learning tasks this term. All students did an incredible job! Grade 1 students have also drawn some silly fish, made a goldfish container for their valuables, made glittery green eggs and ham and have made a wonderful Truffula tree forest.
Grade 3s
MRC’s super talented Grade 3s have been learning about all things animated. They have been given a brief history of cartooning and have had the opportunity to create their very own cartoon characters. Students have experimented with using lines to create many different cartoon features and expressions. Grade 3’s have also designed their own robots with a variety of creative and extraordinary abilities. Within the animation unit of work Grade 3 students created a range of unique and incredible cartoon monsters in a collaborative artwork display.
Grade 4’s
Grade 4 students have been learning about indigenous art this term through the ‘Shapes of Australia’ unit. Students have learned all about the meaning of common symbols used in indigenous artworks. They have explored the works of local Wurundjeri artist, linking symbols to the local surroundings. Students have also learned about the life and work of indigenous artist Bronwyn Bancroft. Grade 4s are currently working on their Visual Art learning tasks, creating a colourful land, city or sea scape of their own complete with unique symbols and patterns.
