2024 VCE Results
Congratulations to our Class of 2024 on their outstanding VCE results! We are proud to award the Bayside Christian College DUX of 2024 to Amaris White on achieving an ATAR score of 96.4
Alongside Amaris, an additional 5 students in the cohort (16%) achieved an ATAR above 90. Well done to Chloe Devenish, Ryan Baker, Owen Mathews and Alycia Hermawan. One student has opted not to be identified.
A remarkable 35% of our students achieved a score of 80 or above. We are incredibly proud of every student for their dedication and effort, regardless of their final score.
Well done to the Class of 2024!
An Attitude of Gratitude
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. - Colossians 3:15
There is a difference between expressing thanks for something and being genuinely grateful for it. An example of this might be -
As a kid, you agree to do a paid job for an elderly neighbour. With the work done on time and well, the neighbour pays you. As part of this exchange, common courtesy expects that you respond, by saying, “Thank you!”. Suppose, however, when you get home to your great surprise you discover that you were given more than twice what you expected. Being an honest person you go back to your neighbour and say, “I think a mistake was made. There is more than twice the amount that we agreed,” to which they respond, “Yes, I know that, but I appreciate what you have done and I wanted you to have a bonus.”
The emotion that you feel in that moment is gratitude. An emotion that goes well beyond a social, perfunctory thank you. Sincere, genuine gratitude isn’t merely a matter of empty words but a heart-felt expression of appreciation.
Gratitude is never an undefined “good feeling” about something or someone. Gratitude is identifiable, reflecting a specific deed or action of another person to whom you owe something, whether or not you can ever repay what you owe.
As we come to the close of another year I find myself grateful. Grateful for those parents who took the time to come and talk with the view to ensuring that Bayside remains a great place to live and learn. Grateful for parents who give up their time to make things happen across the College such as the annual production, weekly prayer, reading groups and caring for classes. Grateful for students who go well beyond what is required of them. Grateful for the time, energy and effort that teachers have put into students across the year to help them find success. Grateful for the many words of encouragement.
I am conscious that I will not be able to repay these people for their work and service. I am also conscious that they did not do what they did for the recognition. I do hope however that they are reading these words and know that I am truly grateful.
I hope that too, that every person within the Bayside community can look back over 2024 and identify things that they are grateful for.
I also hope that as we approach Christmas, we will find ourselves profoundly grateful for the Grace (God’s great favour and kindness) that brought God’s Son to Earth, providing for our salvation. May the Lord bless every one of you and I look forward to what the Lord has in store for the College in 2025.
NAPLAN 2024 Results
As the year comes to a close, the analysis of the College's NAPLAN data continues. I acknowledge that NAPLAN is one single point of measurement for a student's academic journey. I also know that many parents are interested in how students perform in NAPLAN.
I am pleased to be able to share with you that our Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students did very well this year. The following table provides you with a summary of the College's results. The light green backgrounds indicated students performed above the average and dark green indicated well above. The white background shows that students are where they are expected to be in relation to their peers.
I would particularly like to give a shout to the Year 9 cohort who, according to an analysis by the Herald Sun, performed second only to one other school on the Mornington Peninsula.
Well done students and staff!
Mr Andrew Manning, College Principal
