Westall International Student Program

As we wrap up another exciting and fulfilling term, we are thrilled to share the memorable moments and achievements from Term 4 with our school community.

Celebrating Our Year 12 Graduates

This term marked a historic milestone for our International Students in Year 12 with the successful completion of BVCE exams. It was a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to these remarkable students, wishing them every success in their future endeavours. Attached is a photo of our ISP staff celebrating graduation with our international students.

End-of-Year Dinner

On 26 November, international students, staff and homestay families came together to celebrate the end of another successful year with our annual End-of-Year Dinner. It was a heart warming event, highlighting the collective achievements of our international students and fostering a sense of community. A big thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening memorable!

International Student Star of the Year

We are incredibly proud to highlight Rin’s exceptional accomplishments this term. Rin was awarded five academic certificates, a testament to his dedication and hard work. In addition, Rin received the International Student Star of the Year Awardfor his consistent excellence and commitment to academic success. Congratulations, Rin—you are an inspiration to us all!

As Term 4 concludes, we thank our international students for their contributions and achievements, our staff for their unwavering support, and the homestay families for fostering an inclusive and vibrant environment. We look forward to another fantastic year ahead!

WELC Report

We are very close to the end of the year and many of our students have gone to their new schools for Transition days or 2025 preparation programs. However, we have also welcomed about 7 new students over the last month or so. In the last few weeks, students have completed their final writing pieces for each teacher and teachers are finalising reports. These Transition reports will be given to parents and future schools at the end of this week.

Last week our students and staff had a fun excursion to the Melbourne CBD. Students looked at the Myer Windows which were decorated to the theme of ‘Australia Zoo’. We also went to Metro Tunnel HQ and found out about the new train stations which will be on the Pakenham/Cranbourne Line. This will change the way we travel to excursions in the city in the future and it was interesting to hear how they built these new tunnels and stations! Students enjoyed a variety of activities at Metro Tunnel HQ including colouring sheets and exploring the new stations with VR headsets. Next the group went to the Queen Vic Market. Students explored the various stores and enjoyed lunch from the market.

This Thursday students will have an excursion to the beach to learn some water safety skills. This is a really important thing for people to know in Australia as we have a lot of water. Students will do activities on the beach and in the water under the supervision of surf lifesaving guards. This will help them gain confidence around water and give them essential skills for staying safe in the water.

Next week will be the final week of school and students will be able to participate in a range of different activities. We will be combining with the high school so this will be a good chance for Language centre students to practise their English.

Thursday 19 December will be students’ final day for 2024. We will be giving students English activities they can complete over the break and encourage all students to practice their English during the holidays to continue to improve. For those students going on to new schools, we wish you all the best in your future studies! And, finally, we wish all students and their families a safe and happy summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all again next year on 29 January!
