Junior Netball Day

On Tuesday, 3rd December, our Year 7 and 8 Netball students participated in an exciting Netball Day, organised by the Casey Netball Association in collaboration with the Melbourne Vixens.

In the lead-up to the event, students trained at Westall Secondary College under the guidance of a Casey Netball Association coach as part of a pilot program. This program provided an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their netball skills and deepen their understanding of positions and rules.

The day began with a special introduction to the incredible Melbourne Vixens player, Mwai Kumwenda (MJ). Mwai shared her inspirational journey, recounting her experiences growing up in the small village of Mzimba, Malawi, and how she rose to become a professional netball player. Her story left a lasting impression on our students, motivating them to aim high and persevere in their endeavours.

Throughout the day, students participated in netball matches and received valuable coaching from MJ and other skilled trainers. The focus was not only on refining skills but also on fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game.

Our students demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, attentiveness, and dedication. They embraced feedback from their coaches, worked collaboratively as a team, and gave their absolute best effort in every match. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and commitment our students brought to this experience. It was truly a memorable day of growth, learning, and teamwork.
