Debating Student Coaches

This year, our keen senior Debaters volunteered their knowledge and time to coach our junior teams. Their contribution to Mount Alvernia’s Debating program is highly commended by the College, including our junior students who had the following to say about their amazing coaches:

Emma M, Stephanie M and Imogen M, coaching Year 7.1 & 7.2:

“Emma, Imogen and Steph are amazing coaches that have so far taught me multiple things – too many to count. I cannot imagine debating without them or their incredible enthusiasm to always come to training with a big smile on their faces.”

Hannah B, coaching Year 8.1:

“Hannah’s commitment to coaching is amazing and she helps us become better debaters. I truly believe this is true as Hannah always shows up and gives us honesty about what we need to work on and what we are good at. Her feedback after the debates helps all of us out a lot!”

Milla B & Samira B, coaching Year 8.2:

“Milla is great at unpacking the topic and coming up with different ideas. She’s really fun to be around … Milla offers great insights to our topics and amazing tips on how to become better debaters. Samira is very helpful in brainstorming positive and negative sides of points for arguments.”

Lizzie C, coaching Year 8.3:

“Lizzie has been a lovely coach. She offers guidance to our group which is very helpful because some of us have never debated previously. When creating our speeches, she always offers new perspectives on our topics which can lead us to create more vigorous rebuttal and more impenetrable models. She is always kind, treating us with an equal amount of respect.”
