Prayer

On Wednesday May 1st, the Catholic Church celebrated the feast of St Joseph the Worker. Saint Joseph, the carpenter and foster father of Jesus, serves as one example of the holiness of human labor.

As we celebrate the value of work and of workers, we pause to remember that God is present and active in all our endeavours. It is God who guides and shapes our work. We also call to mind as well the suffering of those who are unemployed, underemployed or working in demeaning or dangerous conditions.
