Reconnecting – Get Set and Connect in Term 2

Welcome back to another exciting term at Greenhills Primary School! As we begin Term 2 together, we want to ensure a smooth transition for our students and families. This is why all classrooms have again reconnected through our ‘Get Set and Connect’ program. The program is focused on setting up calm and orderly classroom environments that allow for all students to connect and feel supported in their classroom.

At the heart of our school community are the strong bonds between teachers, students, and families. We have used the Department's Evidence Based High Impact Wellbeing Strategies to inform our Get Set and Connect Program. This week, we're focusing on the first High Impact Wellbeing Strategy: ‘Building Relationships with Students.’ Here's some ways that we bring this strategy to life at Greenhills:

Modelling Respectful Relationships: Our teachers will lead by example, demonstrating the skills and attitudes of a respectful relationship, fostering an environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Mindful Interactions: Teachers will consider how they move around the classroom and approach students, ensuring that interactions are positive and conducive to learning.

Regular Check-ins students: We will use tools like entry and exit routines to check in with students, gauging how they're feeling, their readiness to learn, and if any additional support is needed.

Peer-to-Peer Reconnections: Our classroom isn't just a space for learning; it's a community where friendships flourish and support abounds. Let's encourage our children to reconnect with their peers, share stories, and build bridges of understanding and empathy.

Re-establishing Classroom Expectations: To create a calm and orderly environment where every child can thrive, it's essential to re-establish our classroom expectations. We'll uphold values of respect, kindness, and responsibility, ensuring that every child feels safe and supported.

Our whole school's learning intention is to strengthen connections by sharing and listening. Together, we'll embrace the power of communication, empathy, and understanding. We know that this will enrich our children's learning experiences and foster a sense of belonging for all.

As we embark on this term together, let's embrace the opportunities for growth, learning, and connection that lie ahead. We are confident that this will be a term filled with friendship, discovery, and success for all our students. Let's Get Set & Connect!

Thank you for your continued support,
