We had an incredible visit from Jaimee Maika, Class of '98, in week 3! Jaimee, a Wing Commander with the Royal Australian Air Force, graced us with her presence, donning her impressive flying suit straight from Headquarters Joint Operations Command!

Despite her busy schedule, Jaimee flew down from Canberra to join our Year 11 Leadership Conference, where she shared her awe-inspiring career journey. From commanding air operations in Afghanistan to aiding in earthquake evacuations in Nepal, and even supporting space operations in the U.S., Jaimee's story left our future leaders feeling inspired and motivated.

As an immigrant, indigenous woman, Jaimee is deeply passionate about empowering women in non-traditional gender roles. Her diverse background includes being a qualified Malay linguist, completing a Master of International Relations, working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and has even recently completed a Master of Philosophy in Strategic Studies and researched the utility of a national space strategy for Australia

Our Year 7 students were also lucky enough to hear Jaimee's story, showing them the endless possibilities that come with an education from BHS!

We couldn't be prouder to have alumni like Jaimee, who are willing to give back and inspire the next generation.
