Gardening with classes Y5 (IEL Year 3/4) and G4 (Special Options Year 3-6)
The students from G4 and Y5 got together earlier this term and decided that we would plant some Bok-choy in the garden beds. The students are looking after them by making sure they have enough water, and hopefully enough sunshine so we can have a good harvest in a few weeks' time. Ms.VG has offered to help us cook a delicious and nutritious meal to eat. More photos to come and even a recipe that you can try at home.
YUMMY!!!!!! We can’t wait!!!!
Class R1 (Reception/Year 1) with Ms Patricia
The students have had a great start to term 2! The highlight has been having a Flinders University teaching student, Ms Patricia in our class. She has done some fantastic learning with us!
Ms Patricia has taught us about 3-D objects, mass, capacity and time. She asked us questions and we explained our mathematical thinking. Students have done lots of hands-on activities to support them with their learning. We even got to do math's activities outside!
Thank you, Ms Patricia we have enjoyed learning new things.
Simultaneous Storytime
Our school joned in Simultaneous Storytime. All classes across the school read the story Bowerbird Blues - a beautiful story written and illustrated by Aura Parker.
During library sessions, Y3 students have learnt about the unique behaviours of the Satin Bowerbird. They added their work to the school display.
HASS with Ms Shae
This term the Reception - Year 1 students have been discussing how families and family roles have changed overtime. The students have investigated images from the past to see how the number of children in families has changed and they watched videos from the 1900s to see how life had changed from the past to the present. They used what we had learnt and considered if the role of family members from the past to the present had changed too. The students have been working on showing their understanding through annotated drawings to highlight the differences in times.
Y6 & Y7 (Year 5-6 classes) Reconciliation Week
Y6 and Y7 spent the week learning about the importance of Reconciliation Week. They have engaged in reading picture books, watching short video clips and listening to some very moving music that highlighted why this is so important to Australians moving forward. Students chose to write something they wish to see in the future and reflected on some aspects of our history that have not been so positive. These reflections were typed and stuck to their handprint. We will be laminating these and preparing a ‘sea of hands’ somewhere in the school. Keep an eye out and have a look if you get the opportunity. We have some very reflective and empathetic students in our school.
This week complimented the work being covered by Ms Shae and Ms Karen in HASS lessons.
