PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
ANZAC Day Services
On Wednesday our School Captains, with the assistance of some other grade 5/6 students, did an excellent job in leading our school through our own ANZAC Day Service. Our School Captains talked about the importance of ANZAC Day, before representatives from each of the grade 5/6 classes shared information about ‘Old Gray Street Scholars’ who fought in WW1 and made the ultimate sacrifice through the loss of life. Each of these ANZACS are recognised on the honour rolls we have on display here at school. All students showed great respect throughout our ceremony as we acknowledged remembered those who served our country in wars and conflicts, past and present.
Yesterday was the annual ANZAC Day Public Holiday and we had over 50 students, accompanied by their parents and some staff, represent our school and participate in the local Hamilton ANZAC Day Parade and Service. Our students all looked terrific dressed in their school uniform and represented our school extremely well as we joined in with many other schools and local residents to pay our respects and honour those who have served our country. Thank you to our School Captains Olivia and Cooper for leading our procession and laying a wreath on behalf of our school, along with Student Voice Leaders Hannah and Zara who supported in leading our procession – LEST WE FORGET.
School Cross Country
Our annual School Cross Country for all students in grades 3 to 6 will be taking place on Monday of next week at Lake Hamilton. Children will depart school at 1:40pm and will be transported to the venue by bus ready for the event to commence promptly at 2:00pm. All students run along a course of approximately 2km that commences near the playground/BBQ area on the Rippon Road side of the lake with the finish line located in the parking area near the Hamilton Rowing Club boat shed. To ensure the safety of all students, we request that families in attendance please find an alternate place to park, preferably along Gray Street. All students will then be transported back to school by bus at the conclusion of the event. We are looking forward to the day and hope that once again we have a large number of parents in attendance to cheer on and support our students.
XUNO
We have received some reports from parents that XUNO isn’t allowing some messages to be sent. This appears to only be affecting some people. We have been advised from XUNO to request parents, where having issues, to do an update of the app in your phone. Hopefully this will resolve the issues being encountered by some.
2025 Prep Parent Information
A reminder to families that our 2025 Prep Parent Information sessions will be taking place on May 7th and 9th, with information included in the flyer below. If you have a child in Prep next year but don’t plan on attending any of these sessions, please let us know so we can still get an enrolment pack sent out to you.
Have a great weekend!
