Colour Fun Run

What an amazing time we had during our Colour Run on Friday!  It was the perfect day, the sun and mild weather made for great conditions to be sprayed with water and showered in colour.  The students had a blast, running and laughing with their friends around the oval.  They are to be commended for the way they were able to be silly and play, but also manage the day in a safe and responsible manner. 

A B thank you to all who played a part in organising and volunteering on the day.  These events don't happen without a lot of community support, we are continually grateful to be a part of such an engaged community.  I would also like to thank all who generously donated to the fundraising aspect of this event.  Fundraising is not finalised yet, however the event has raised over $22,000 profit so far.  This is an extraordinary amount.  

All funds raised are going towards developing a storytelling space in the orchard garden.  This will be a place where classes can go to learn about and engage with First Nations culture and perspectives.  If you are interested in helping with this project, both the community reconciliation action team and the grounds sub-committee will have a large hand in realising the project. Reach out to the office if you would like to connect with either group. 

Finally, a thank you to the staff who agreed to be slimed on the day.  Certainly a highlight for (almost) everyone...

Working Bee

The working bees held the last two weekends were another great example of community engagement at BNPS.  Over the two days hundreds of plants were put in the ground, continuing the ongoing work to green our school.  Many of these plants were funded through our successful Junior Landcare Biodiversity Grant, aiming to create habitats for native flora, fauna and insects in our community.  There has been significant work over the last 18 months to ensure we continue to green our school.  Please see the separate page from grounds sub-committee in this newsletter for more details. 

Parent/Teacher Interviews

A reminder that there are parent teacher interviews this coming Tuesday September 16.  This is an important part of the reporting program at BNPS, a chance for teachers to provide families with information about student's strengths and areas for development.  Please log on to compass to book your interview if you have not already.  Please note: due to some staff being on leave, some classes will be having interviews on alternate dates.
