Acting Principal's Report

A message from the Acting Principal

It’s hard to believe Term 3 is already coming to an end – and what a term it’s been! From the buzz of learning in classrooms to the excitement of events, performances  and competitions, our school has been alive with activity. Whether cheering on teammates, showcasing talents, or simply supporting one another, the sense of community and enthusiasm has been felt in every corner of the school.

The last fortnight alone has been a whirlwind of excitement and achievement. A standout highlight was our school production, The Day the Internet Died. I was fortunate enough to see it not once, but twice – including a special performance attended by Preston MP Nathan Lambert, Darebin Mayor Kristine Olaris, and several local primary schools. It was an honour to share this experience with such esteemed guests and witness the incredible talent and teamwork of our students and staff.

Another moment of pride came with the Grand Final of the Lions Club Interschool Debating Competition, where our team – Vivian Tang, Jack Proctor, and Aiden Turker – delivered a compelling negative argument on "Should pesticides be banned?" and emerged victorious. Congratulations to these outstanding students for their hard work and eloquence!

Throughout the term, our school has thrived with sporting events, excursions and music performances, each offering students opportunities to grow, connect and shine beyond the classroom. We also came together for R U OK? Day, a powerful reminder of the importance of checking in with one another and fostering a culture of care and support.

As we look ahead to Term 4, our Year 12 students are preparing for their final stretch – with just two weeks until their final day celebrations, before heading off on swot vac. We wish them all the best as they enter this pivotal time.

Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our entire school community – students, families, and staff – for your support during my time as Acting Principal. It has been a privilege to lead such a vibrant and dedicated school and I wish everyone a safe, restful and well-deserved holiday break.

Warm regards,

Jodie Purches
