Victorian Education Excellence Awards

Outstanding Early Career Primary Teacher

FINALIST

✨FELICITY JENKINS✨

It is with great pride that I congratulate Felicity Jenkins (3/4 Teacher) on being a Victorian Education Excellence Awards 🌟FINALIST🌟 in the category of Outstanding Early Career Primary Teacher

Felicity Jenkins adopts an evidence-based and student-centred approach to her teaching practice at Box Hill North Primary School. This has led to significant gains in student learning and wellbeing. Rigorously evaluating teaching outcomes, Felicity ensures continuous improvement in student achievement. Her reflective approach means students take an active role in their learning.

Felicity focuses on creating a calm, consistent and productive classroom environment. She clearly communicates routines and expectations, giving students a safe and predictable space to learn. These structures help students build independence and confidence.

Felicity has led professional learning on restorative practices and has been key to embedding trauma-informed practices as part of the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support team. These efforts enhance student wellbeing and engagement.

Felicity is one of only three finalists in Victoria, with the winner of the award due to be announced in late October. Please join me in congratulating Felicity and wishing her all the very best for the finals!

This is a magnificent achievement which has seen Felicity ensure a rigorous process to make it to this stage.

Felicity, we wish you all the very best and are so proud of you!

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support CELEBRATION DAY!

This week, we enjoyed a very special Celebration Day, definitely a highlight of the term! Students loved coming in free dress, enjoying hot jam donuts, and having the extended recess playtime together (especially when the wind caused us to spend lunch time indoors for safety reasons!) It was fantastic to see the joy and excitement across the school as we came together to acknowledge the positive behaviours and achievements of our students.

At the heart of everything we do is the safety and wellbeing of our students. Every staff member at Box Hill North is committed to ensuring children feel safe, calm and confident every single day. We know that when students feel secure and cared for, they are ready to learn, to try their best, and to grow both academically and personally.
