Art with Bianca

Last term, our senior students (Grades 3-6) completed an impressive assessment tasks where they designed and created their very own personal shields. This project gave them the opportunity to reflect and express their cultural heritage, identity, personal values, and interests. Many students shared thoughtful and meaningful symbols through their art work and I was very impressed with the final result! Well done Grade 3-6 students!

The Grade 1/2 students have begun their Term 4 art journey with a colourful and creative group activity known as Circle Painting. This collaborative art technique was developed by Vietnamese-American artist and educator Hiep Nguyen, who envisioned an activity that would foster connection, community, and a strong sense of belonging. Nguyen’s Circle Painting method is intentionally inclusive and accessible to everyone—regardless of age, background, culture, or artistic experience.

There is no emphasis on creating a “perfect” artwork. Instead, the focus is on working together, sharing space, interacting, and supporting one another in the creative process. The result is a unique, vibrant artwork that reflects the collective energy and imagination of the group. It was wonderful to see our students embrace the process so openly. They were deeply engaged—encouraging one another, experimenting with new techniques, and celebrating each other’s contributions. Their enthusiasm and teamwork truly brought the artwork to life!
