House Badminton

History was made on Wednesday 16 September as Mazenod hosted its first ever House Badminton Championships at Unique Badminton.

It was a brilliant day filled with fast-paced rallies, plenty of skill, and house spirit on full display. Building on the success of our five ACC titles earlier this year, the competition was fierce right to the end.

In an entertaining Grand Final, MacKillop proved too strong, defeating Cebula to claim the inaugural championship.

Congratulations also to Reikken Lydra, who was awarded the Raphael Lydra Medal as Grand Final MVP.

House Golf

On Wednesday 17 September, students hit the fairways of Rossdale Golf Course for the second annual House Golf Championship. The event also served as a trial for the upcoming ACC Junior Golf Championship in Term 4.

Competition was fierce, with every swing adding to the tension. In the end, Hugh Bartlett claimed the Peter Riley Perpetual Trophy, while partnering with his brother Cooper to secure the House Shield for Chisholm.

The Band of Brothers Trophy went to Mayson and Kobie Plant, edging out the Bartlett brothers in a close contest. Congratulations also to Mr Josh Muling, who made history as the first recipient of the Alan McAlister Medal for the best staff round.

Angus Cassidy (MOC2024)

From the classroom to the workplace, Angus Cassidy (MOC2024) has embraced every opportunity of the VCE Vocational Major pathway, and it’s paying off.

Now an aspiring fashion designer, Angus has become a role model for current and future VCE VM students, showing how this pathway empowers young people to pursue their passions through hands-on learning, real-world skills, and community connections.

A proud Mazenod graduate and valued member of our staff team, Angus’ story has been recognised in The Age, showcasing the impact and possibilities of vocational pathways.

R U OK?

R U OK? Day was, and is, all about starting real conversations and showing each other we care.

Our students were asked: “How do you ask R U OK?”

Their answers covered the canteen windows in a mural of kindness and connection, a reminder that sometimes the simplest words can mean the most.

It only takes a moment to check in, listen, and let someone know they’re not alone.
