Sports Update
At the end of the Term 3 we saw our Boys and Girls basketball teams represent St Margaret's in our District tournament at Keilor Basketball Stadium. Both teams played incredibly well against a really tough draw. Our Boys team ended the day 3rd on the ladder, just missing out on finals. Our girls team played in some incredibly close games, even a draw! They finished the tournament in 4th place. We are extremely proud of all our students involved and a massive thankyou to coaches Mr Mammone and Miss Parker for their outstanding work on the day, as well as the large crowd of families that came to support and assist with scoring!
We also saw 20 students compete in the Division Athletics Carnival. It was a tough climate at Keilor Athletics track with heavy winds and cold conditions all day! Again a massive thankyou to Mr Mammone and all the Parent's that firmed the cold to assist and cheer on our incredible students. Congratulations to all for representing St Margaret's with pride, but a special congratulations to the following students for progressing onto the regional stage of Athletics.
Xavier - 6A - High Jump
Chloe - 5B - Hurdles
Audrey - 5C - Long Jump
Reed - 4B - 100m
Eliza - 4C - 100m and 200m
They will compete again at Keilor Athletics track on the 21st of October, we wish them the best of luck!
Year 4 - CERES Excursion
On Thursday 9th of October, the Year 4’s went to CERES to begin our Inquiry unit ‘First Contacts’. CERES is an environmental educational centre in Brunswick East. The Year 4 students took part in different activities designed to educate them on how the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people lived and passed on their traditions. The students learnt about the importance of stories and language, how ochre and special symbols are used to create artwork, and how local plants can be eaten and used for many different purposes. We had amazing weather and thoroughly enjoyed exploring and learning at CERES. A special thank you to our helpers Rangi and Mrs. Carla who gave up their time to accompany us on our excursion.
