CRICKET

Senior A Cricket

The Senior A PISA Cricket Team enjoyed the first Term of PISA sport with a fun environment to practise skills, competition and being a part of a team. Training on Thursday’s allowed the team to take what they learned and put it into practice with the Friday games. The team enjoyed a few close wins and some strong, come from behind run chases while also facing some narrow defeats. It was wonderful to see the improvement of skills and teamwork across the short term of the competition.

Senior B Cricket

Term 1 saw the Senior B Cricket team compete in the PISA Inter School Competition at Nolan Reserve. Most players were enjoying their first ever experience of Cricket. The most pleasing aspect of the season was the camaraderie between the players, highlighting wonderful school spirit and sportsmanship. As we reflect on the season, the team should be proud of their progress and should look forward to success in future seasons.

RUGBY

Term 1 PISA Report – Rugby 7s

The Rugby 7s Blue team showed amazing growth in skill and teamwork throughout the course of the season. The scheduled round-robin draw saw TPHS play in 7 matches, winning the first 6 of these and finishing on top of the points ladder. The only loss came in the final game of the season as a number of key injuries that occurred on the day, in addition to an overall sense of tiredness after playing back-to-back matches, finally caught up with the team. The highlight of the regular season proved to be a match-winning try by Jaxon (P5), which was scored out wide several minutes after full-time as the team was able to continually maintain possession of the ball before sealing the win. Most pleasingly, strong defence set up this victory, with Charlotte (J5), executing a magnificent cover tackle, followed up by an outstanding try-saving tackle performed by Connor (P6).

The semi-final game saw the team score a resounding victory over St Luke’s Dee Why, 36-12, before playing straight away in the Grand Final game against Northern Beaches Christian School, who the team had previously beaten convincingly in the main draw earlier in the season. Right from the outset, TPHS battled hard against their opposition who were fresh off a bye in the semi-final game due to a forfeit. Despite showing significant signs of fatigue, TPHS found a way to force extra-time by levelling the scores at 19-all. A superb runaway try down the left touchline by Isabella (J5), followed by a long-range effort from Jaxon (P5), showed the amazing spirit that existed within the team, however, the players simply ran out of gas in extra-time and finished runners-up overall.

Despite the unfortunate result to finish the season, all players can be incredibly proud of the effort they showed and willingness to continue working hard on the field for one another, regardless of the score.

Congratulations to the following players in Years 5 and 6 who were all part of the team: Isabella, Lea, Charlotte and Ivy (J5); Jaxon, Josh and Harry (P5) and Koen, Connor, John and Charlie (P6).

SOFTBALL

Softball with Pittwater House is a phenomenal experience as it gives opportunities to work with our peers and collaborate at another level outside of classwork. The senior softball team has had an exceptional year. We got to play in a new team, with new teammates from Years 5 and 6. We also had fun while trying our hardest to score runs and win games. We played against many different schools and were able to meet students from across the Northern Beaches.

Our coach Mrs Holgersson has been such an asset to the softball team, and we all appreciate her putting her time forward to coach and train with us. Thank you also to Mrs Layton for helping us to develop our skills and become better softball players. We had a great season.

Violet and Emaan (J6)

Senior Modball B Team

This term, the Senior Modball team played St Lukes, Gaulston College and John Colet. Initially, most of us were unsure how to play, but with the help of our coaches, Mrs Roberts and Mrs Layton, we learned the game and its rules. After a few games, we started communicating better and winning occasionally. However, our success was not just due to our skills but also because of our supportive and encouraging team cheering us on during the games. We are grateful to Mrs Roberts, Mrs Layton and the entire Senior Modball team for making this season amazing!
