“We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song".

John Paul 2

As the leaves start to turn to stunning autumnal colours and the sun is a little lower in the sky, Easter approaches. A time that offers us not just a break from our routines but a profound opportunity to reconnect with our loved ones and the deeper meanings of this important time in the churches’ calendar.

In the rush of our busy lives, it's easy to overlook the significance of Easter beyond its association with chocolate. However, at its core, Easter is a time of renewal, reflection, and rejoicing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of what has been a busy Term 1, it's essential to pause and consider the true essence of Easter. It's a time for families to come together, to share meals, exchange stories, and create lasting memories. It's a time to cherish the bonds that unite us, to express gratitude for the love and support that sustains us throughout the year.

Yet, as we gather with our loved ones and enjoy a well-deserved break, let us not forget the profound spiritual significance of Easter. It's a time to reflect on the sacrifice made for us, the message of hope and redemption that the resurrection brings. It's a time to rekindle our faith, to deepen our understanding of the teachings of Jesus, and to contemplate the significance of his rising on Easter Sunday.

In the midst of our celebrations, let us also be mindful of those who may be less fortunate, who may not have that family to connect with or this time of the year causes sadness.  May we extend a hand of kindness and compassion through love, forgiveness, and generosity - just as Jesus taught us.

I, along with the Primary staff wish you all a blessed and meaningful Easter filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

Celebrating Palm Sunday and the Events of Holy Week

Last Friday our ELC - Year 2 gathered to retell the story of Palm Sunday inviting parents of these grades and our Year 3 - 6 students to take part in the liturgy.  This week all classes have taken part in a series of either Godly Plays (ELC - Year 2) or prayerful reflections ensuring we have a better understanding of the events of Holy Week.  In the classroom teachers have also been integrating lessons and discussions about the significance of each day of Holy Week, encouraging students to contemplate the profound love and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

In coming together to celebrate Palm Sunday and the events of Holy Week, we have strived to deepen our faith, strengthen our bonds, and cultivate a spirit of reverence and love.  Thanks must go to Mr Gerard McNulty (ILRE Leader) and Mrs Michelle Wall who ran the Godly Play sessions.

Learning Conversations

On Thursday 4 April and Tuesday 9 April all parents are required to attend our ELC - Year 6 Learning Conversations.  ELC conversations will be conducted in the ELC building, Kinder parents to head to the Kinder classroom and Prep - Year 6 conversations will be held  in the O’Brien Resource Centre (College Library).

These conversations will provide you as parents/guardians with the opportunity to follow a structured conversation and view work samples and data gathered in English and Mathematics, and a focus on the wellbeing of your daughter.  These face to face meetings will enable a more personalised and tailored approach to the progress made so far as well as the direction Term 2 will take. Another meeting will occur at the end of Term 2 and again in Term 3, following the same format.

Information about booking times have been sent home and if there are any issues you are asked to contact your daughter's classroom teacher

JSSATIS Swimming

On Monday our Primary Swimming team headed to the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre to participate in the JSSATIS Swimming Carnival.  Thanks to all the students who participated and to Ms Nikki Stuart and Mr Damien Lowe who accompanied the team.  The next carnival will be the STCPSSA Swimming Carnival and this will be held on Friday 5 April.

Staff Leave - Primary

We wish Mr Damien Lowe a happy and safe break as he takes a period of leave from today until the end of term.  Whilst he is away we welcome Mrs Lucy Brown who brings a great level of expertise and experience to the Year 5 space. We also wish Mrs Megan Richardson a wonderful leave period as she takes some time for renewal, as well as time with family from today until Week 9 of Term 2.

For both of you, may this time be full of joy and laughter as you head off to explore places away from Mount Carmel.
