Sustainable Scarecrows School Competition

Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle

Our Sustainability Leaders followed a design brief to make a scarecrow entirely made from repurposed, recycled and reused materials.

The scarecrows were on display at the garden show and attendees could vote for their favourite scarecrow with the winner announced on Sunday.

The scarecrow had to be registered to confirm our entry and delivered to the show in the Carlton Gardens.

We are excited to share with you that our Sustainable Scarecrow ‘Sarah’ won the People’s Choice award at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show!

Our Sustainability leaders visited the Show on Friday with our Outdoor Ed teacher Caitlyn Blake and Co-educator Wendy and were very excited to hear the news over of Sarah’s win.

The People’s Choice award won $1,000 worth of nursery vouchers and garden products.

Sarah now wears her ‘People’s Choice’ badge proudly in our vegetable garden.

Thank you to Caitlyn for her passion in the project and sustainability and to everyone who voted for our scarecrow!

Whole School Cross Country Event

Thank you to Casey for organising events for the children to enjoy their last day of Term 1. Wonderful to see the children wearing their house colours and having fun after a full term of learning! We are so proud of the children for putting in their best effort throughout all the activities today. There was a wonderful team spirit in the air. Have a lovely break over the Easter and get some rest, as the District Cross Country is just around the corner!

International Flower and Garden Show 2024

Last week the Sustainability Leaders went to the Royal Melbourne Garden Show in the city. We saw our Scarecrow 'Sarah', we saw some amazing gardens and flowers and brought home some potted plants for our school. It was a wonderful day.

Thanks to Caitlyn and Wendy for taking us.
