This week in Writing students are constructing free verse poems as a class then drafting their own free verse poems. 

VOCABULARY

Emotion: how someone is feeling e.g. happy, sad, angry, tired, hungry

Rhyming: Rhyming words are two or more words that have the same or similar ending sound.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Students can use a variety of topics to help create a free verse poem. An example may be Autumn. Walk around the neighbourhood noticing what they hear, see, smell and touch. When you get home write sown some of the words and phrases and use them to write a free verse poem.
