Lions Youth of the Year

Congratulations to Josie M, who is representing all of eastern Melbourne in the Lions Youth of the Year State Final!

The Youth of the Year competition tests students across a range of areas: their contributions to both their school and wider community, leadership skills, academic record, general knowledge and public speaking skills. After winning her district, zone and regional finals, Josie has made it to the final round of the Victorian competition: the State Final. Josie was also named the public speaking winner of this penultimate stage of the competition, with a passionate speech on the need to embrace Australia’s multicultural identity and some quick witted impromptu responses.

We wish her luck as she goes on to represent our region at the Victorian State Final, with representatives from all across Victoria converging in Carisbrook early next term.

Top Class - Dance

Congratulations to Evie H-S on her performance at Top Class Dance at the Recital Centre. Top Class celebrates the top performers of VCE Dance each year, and Evie was selected to showcase her performance out of hundreds of students. Congratulations, Evie!

Junior Swimming

After a successful swim at the Monash-Waverley Division Swimming, the Huntingtower Junior School had 7 students competing at the SSV Eastern-Metropolitan Regionals Swimming Champions at Aquanation in Ringwood. Coming up against some of the best swimmers in Victoria, our swimmers put in fantastic efforts!

Chelsea Z finished 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and 6th in the 50m Butterfly, while Jaxson B & Avril W finished 7th in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle respectively. Our Girls Medley Relay was edged out of the medals by less than half a second! But bounced back strongly to finish 3rd in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay.
