From The Principal Team

Moonlit Sanctuary Year 2

As we approach the final week of Term 1, it is with a sense of pride that we reflect on the past several weeks. It has been a truly productive term, filled with growth, learning and memorable experiences for our students.

As a new Beaumaris Primary leadership team, we are incredibly grateful for the open and honest conversations and feedback shared from staff members, parents and carers, and our students to support us in our journey to ensure our school delivers the best possible learning experiences for your child. We have begun our focus on consistency and clarity for our staff through refining our processes and our teaching and learning programs, as well as beginning our focus on commitment and challenge of high expectations for all students. We recognise this work will continue throughout the year, but as a leadership team we are proud of the start we have made.

As you may be aware, we are currently in the process of making adjustments to our homework policy. Currently, our policy outlines the following guidelines:

  • Prep to Year 2: 15 to 20 minutes per day
  • Year 3 and 4: 30 minutes per day
  • Year 5 and 6: 45 minutes per day

To ensure we're making informed decisions, we've been conducting clinic groups involving both staff and students to gather their perspectives on homework. Now, we would greatly value your input as well. To share your feedback, please access the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/4WPnGT9wJn

A huge congratulations to our students in Year 3 and Year 5 who have undertaken NAPLAN testing over the past two weeks. We have been so incredibly proud of how our students have applied themselves, and for the positive attitude they have demonstrated. Thank you to our staff members, including both teachers and many of our Education Support staff, and to parents and carers for all of your wonderful support. Your support and encouragement undoubtedly played a crucial role in supporting our students throughout the testing.

This week our teaching teams have undertaken their planning day for Term 2. This day enables our teams to work together to collectively develop, plan and prepare overviews and key planning documents for the term ahead. We have an incredibly committed staff who continuously plan and deliver a rigorous, engaging teaching and learning program both in the classroom and in specialist lessons. Time spent together as a team on their planning day ensures our staff have the opportunity to work effectively to achieve this.

This week David and our Prep Team Leader and Transition Coordinator, Miss Katrina Hartley, had a wonderful day out on the road visiting many of our local kindergartens. These visits support a strong partnership between kindergartens and our school, which leads to a smooth transition for our families and students. Our Prep transition information for 2025 Prep students was shared with kindergartens, and we will also attach it below. Please feel free to share this with any families you know who may be interested in finding out more about Beaumaris Primary for 2025. We'd love to have them join our information evening on the 22nd April.

Tomorrow will be our second Open Afternoon for the term. This begins at 3pm and runs in lieu of our school assembly. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to come into the school and see it in action. Further details can be found on Compass, and we look forward to welcoming those of you who can make it. Enjoy!

There are a number of key events happening at our school over this final week of Term 1.

Please check the Term Calendar in this newsletter and your child's year level What's Happening to be across important dates. Our Year 6 School Leaders delivered a letter to traders at the Concourse this week and they're very excited to see our Prep students' Easter Bonnets next Thursday!

This will be our final newsletter for Term 1. We remind families that our last day of term is next Thursday, March 28th. Students will be dismissed earlier on this day at 2:30pm. If your family celebrates Easter, we hope you enjoy the festivities. We wish all of our Beaumaris Primary families a restful term break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 15th April.

Kind Regards,

David, Grace and Ellen
