A message from the Principal

Our Celebration of the Arts evening is almost here, and excitement is building across the school. This event is always a real highlight of the year for our whole community as it a night that captures everything special about SKiPPS and showcases our school values, particularly Creativity.

For months, students and staff have been working hard in Visual Arts, creating an incredible range of artwork linked to our theme, Rebel Rebel. Musical and dance performances developed in Performing Arts are also coming together beautifully.

Yesterday morning, we held our whole-school dress rehearsal, and it was such a joy to see every class take to the stage with confidence, energy and pride.

The school was alive with music, colour and excitement, and we’re thrilled to share some of the beautiful photos captured by the ever-talented Bec Walton, which perfectly showcase the creativity and spirit of the day.

What I love most about Celebration of the Arts is that it truly celebrates the learning and participation of every single student. It’s not a traditional production focused on one year level or a select few performers — it’s a whole-school celebration where everyone has a place and a moment to shine.

From singing and dancing to visual art and ensemble pieces, every student contributes to something bigger than themselves and experiences the joy of being part of a united, creative community.

This year we’re especially excited to expand the celebration even further. The evening will open with performances from our SKiPPS Orchestra and the ever-popular parent band, Parental Guidance, and may even feature a surprise performance from our staff later in the night!

We warmly invite our entire community - parents, grandparents, relatives, neighbours, friends and even past students - to join us for this special celebration of what makes our school so unique. Details about the evening, including timings, logistics and ways families can help (such as volunteering or baking), are included later in this newsletter.

We’re so close now to Celebration of the Arts 2026 - I can’t wait to see everyone at school tomorrow night for what promises to be a truly memorable evening.
