Learning and Teaching

Welcome Back! 🏫✏️

Welcome back to school! After a well-earned holiday, students have returned full of energy and excitement, ready for another great term of learning. It has been lovely hearing all about the wonderful adventures they had over the holidays and seeing the smiles as they’ve reunited with their friends and teachers.

This week, students have been busy working on their recount writing, focusing on sharing the events from their holidays. They have written about what they did, who they spent time with, and what their favourite moments were. After carefully editing and publishing their pieces, students have proudly displayed their wonderful writing in our classroom space for everyone to enjoy.

Students shared that they did lots of fun things over the break — some went to the Royal Melbourne Show, others went shopping, and a few even travelled interstate to places like the Gold Coast! It sounds like everyone had an amazing time making special memories with family and friends.

Although the holidays were full of excitement and adventure, students were also eager to return to school, ready to learn new things, get back into routines and for exciting things such as Swimming, Production and Twilight Market which are coming up this term. We’re so proud of how smoothly everyone has settled back in and can’t wait for all the great learning ahead this term!

Living the Creed

The Nicene Creed is a prayer that summarises what all Christians believe. It is a fundamental  “article of faith”, a statement that expresses a key belief in the Christian faith. Together, we profess our faith in God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. The Nicene Creed asserts belief in the Holy Trinity (one God in three persons), the divinity of Jesus (consubstantial with the Father), his incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension, and the role of the Holy Spirit. It tells us that there is one God who created everything, that Jesus is God’s Son who came to save us, and that the Holy Spirit helps and guides us.

Teaching the Nicene Creed invites students to explore how faith transforms both individuals and communities. Through understanding the Creed’s core beliefs about God’s love, creation, and redemption, students learn that transformation is a call to live with compassion, justice, and hope. By reflecting on the phrase “I believe,” they recognise the shared responsibility of working together for the Common Good. This learning helps students connect their personal faith journey with actions that promote dignity, inclusion, and positive change in the world.

Students in LS2 created a Creed wall, where they added action statements, personal connections, symbols and wonderings to each “article of faith” or “ I believe statement”. Faith transforms the heart, and transformed hearts build the Common Good. It’s where belief becomes action, and where “I believe” becomes “I serve.” The Nicene Creed is more than a list of beliefs — it proclaims how God transforms creation through love, truth, and salvation.

SENIOR SPORT

Divisional Athletics

On Wednesday, October 8th, nine students took part in the Divisional Athletics competition at Casey Athletics Track in Cranbourne. The weather was sunny and somewhat breezy, allowing the students to enjoy the day. All students have been training extremely hard during their break time, offering each other support during their practice sessions.

Our 1500m runners, Zoe and Kristian, were eager to take part in the event. Both showed outstanding commitment during their training, and we are happy to announce that Zoe finished in 4th place while Kristian took 6th place.

Our Hurdles student, Tyrus, who always wears a smile finished in 7th place due to nerves, still he maintained that smile as he came back from the race.

We had a few new students unfamiliar with Divisional, nerves showed, yet we are incredibly proud of our Relay Team, Jeremy, Elijah, Sam, and Kristen, who secured 5th place. I was immensely proud of every one of them, stay tuned.

Our sprinters, Dominique and Kristian took part in the 100m events, while Evie competed in the 200m. They conveyed their pride in their achievements, however their results do not reflect their dedication to the team. Dominique finished in 5th place, while Kristian secured 6th place.

Jeremy participated in Long Jump, it was his first competition at Divisional Athletics. He demonstrated dedication to training each week and the excitement was infectious to all. Congratulations on achieving 9th place.

Our 800m athlete, Lorelai, achieved an impressive result by securing 5th place, she had to wait the entire day for her race.

Well done to our athletes.
Well done to our athletes.

Congratulations to all our students for their outstanding accomplishment in attaining this level of athletics.

We can organise students to be dropped off there after the clinics. TERM 4 SWIMMING

Swimming has begun!! Thanks to all the parents that ensured their child was prepared for their swimming lesson. It made the office ladies job much easier. Thank you also to parents who assisted in the Junior changerooms. Please remember that only the parents I have organised will be allowed to enter and assist in the changerooms.

Swimming timetables have been uploaded onto the Operoo permission form as an attachment. Please print it off and ensure you have it available at home. Next week there is a slight change for LS2 and 3 Juniors because of production practise.

The details are as follows:

  • Monday – LS1 Juniors and Seniors, LS2 Juniors
  • Tuesday – LS3 Juniors and Seniors, LS2 Seniors

Students will need to wear their bathers under their sports uniform and bring a bag with their towel, undergarments and thongs. Students will put their thongs on before leaving for swimming to make changing easier. They will then put their shoes back on once they return to school.

Please ensure your child is prepared for their swimming lesson so our office staff do not need to use their valuable time ringing parents and asking them to bring swimming gear.

Parents please note you are welcome to attend Casey Leisure to view your child’s lesson but photographs and videos are not allowed and only parents who have been contacted by me, are able to assist in the junior change rooms.

A reminder to parents that swimming is an important part of the PE curriculum and all students are expected to attend. It’s imperative that students know how to keep themselves safe around water. If there is a medical reason your child cannot attend a session, they will then remain at school in another Learning Space.
