Education in Faith

Thanksgiving Liturgy and Presentation of Confirmation Certificates
Today, as our Grade 6 students received their Confirmation certificates, we celebrated a special milestone in our faith journey. These certificates are more than just pieces of paper — they remind us that we have been strengthened by the Holy Spirit and are called to live as disciples of Jesus.
Through the gifts of the Spirit, we are encouraged to show courage, kindness, and hope in our everyday lives. Like our chosen saints, we are called to make a difference — to be people of faith, compassion, and service in our families, school, and community.
May this moment remind us that our Confirmation is not an ending, but a new beginning, a journey of faith that continues to grow as we walk with God.

“Were not all ten made clean? The other nine, where are they?”
"A Grateful Heart”
In this week’s Gospel, Jesus heals ten lepers, people who were very sick and had to live apart from everyone else. They called out to Jesus for help, and He healed them all. But something surprising happens: only one of the ten comes back to say thank you.
This man was a Samaritan, someone many Jewish people in those days didn’t get along with. Yet he was the only one who returned to Jesus, praising God and showing gratitude.
Jesus notices this and asks, “Where are the other nine?” It’s not that He wanted thanks for Himself it’s that gratitude opens our hearts to see God’s goodness. The one who said thank you didn’t just get his body healed; his heart was healed too.
Sometimes, we forget to say thank you to God, our parents, our teachers, or friends. But when we do remember, our hearts become lighter, and we notice how much love surrounds us. A thankful heart is a joyful heart!
This week, let’s try to be like the grateful leper. Let’s thank God for the big and small blessings our food, our families, our health, our friends—and even the challenges that help us grow.
Discussion Starters:
- Why do you think only one leper went back to thank Jesus?
- What are some things you are thankful for today?
- How can we show our gratitude to God each day as a family?
- When was a time someone said “thank you” to you? How did it make you feel?
- For Older Children or Students:
- What does this story teach us about faith and gratitude?
- Do you think saying “thank you” can change the way we see life? How?
- How can being grateful bring us closer to God and to others?
Let us Pray:
Loving Jesus, thank You for all the blessings You give us every day—our families, friends, and the gift of Your love. Help us to always remember to say thank You, not only with our words but with our actions and our hearts. May we live with grateful hearts and share Your goodness with others. Amen.
God Bless

BUILDING HOUSES FOR THE HOMELESS
What a remarkable effort SFS!! We have built over 600 origami houses and Mini Vinnies had to find other walls to put them up on as our original space filled up very quickly! If you have a chance please have a look at the window and door that leads out to the Yarning Circle. They look spectacular!!
FROM MINI VINNIES…
KEEP COSY AND HELP OTHERS KEEP CLEAN
Once again, a great effort by the SFS community! From all your donations Mini Vinnies managed to make toiletry packs. There were eight laundry baskets full! Four were given to our Lynbrook Community Centre and four went to the Berwick Soupvan. Both were very grateful for our donations and said it would make a huge difference to the people in our community.
We were featured not once but twice in the Cranbourne Star News and also the Lynbrook Community Centre Term 4 Newsletter.
