Reflection: Confirmation Faith Day

On Tuesday, our Year 6 students as well as candidates from the Parish, took part in a special Confirmation Faith Day — a meaningful opportunity to pause, learn and reflect as they continue their journey towards receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The day began beautifully with the celebration of Mass together as a year level, led by Fr John, who then spent time speaking with the students about the significance of the sacrament. He shared how Confirmation strengthens our faith and follows on from the other Sacraments of Initiation. He also took the time to ask some of our students about their chosen Saint.

Throughout the day, students engaged in a variety of activities that deepened their understanding of this important milestone. They explored the meaning and symbols of the Sacrament of Confirmation, learnt about the logistics for the upcoming ceremony, and reflected on their chosen Confirmation saint — discovering how the lives of the saints inspire us to follow Jesus more closely in our own lives.

Another highlight of the day was preparing their Confirmation stoles, decorating them with symbols that represent the sacraments and their personal faith journey. These stoles will be worn by the students at their Confirmation and will display the name of their chosen Confirmation Saint.

We are very proud of our Year 6 students for the maturity and faith they demonstrated throughout the day. As they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, we pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide and strengthen them to be witnesses of Christ’s love in our world.

Dear Holy Spirit,

Thank you for the love of Jesus and for the gifts you give us.

Help me to be brave when I need to speak the truth, kind when someone is sad, and wise when I must choose.

Fill my heart with your light so I can grow closer to God every day.

Bless my family, my teachers, and all my friends as we walk together in faith.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.
