Australian Mathematics Competition – Certificate Presentation This Week

We are excited to announce that certificates for the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) will be presented at this week’s school assembly. This prestigious competition encourages students to apply their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills in creative and challenging ways.

This year, 57 students from Years 3 to 6 took part in the AMC, showcasing their persistence, curiosity, and enthusiasm for mathematics. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements.

Families are warmly invited to attend the assembly as we celebrate these students and present their certificates. Congratulations to all participants — your hard work and commitment to learning are truly commendable!

Great Job Riders – Keep Wearing Those Helmets!

It’s been awesome to see so many students riding their bikes and scooters to school this week — and even better to see them wearing their helmets! You are showing great responsibility and looking after your safety, which is exactly what we love to see.

Let’s keep it going! Whether it is a short ride or a longer trip, popping on your helmet every time makes a big difference. Thanks to everyone who’s been setting a great example — keep it up!

And just a quick reminder: if you’re riding to school, make sure you’re sticking to safe paths, watching out for traffic, and crossing roads carefully. A little bit of road safety goes a long way!

Kind regards,

Hello Everyone,

Supporting Every Child and Every Family

At Deer Park West Primary School, we believe every student has the right to feel safe, supported and inspired to reach their full potential. We care deeply about your child’s learning, wellbeing and future, and we value the partnership we share with families in achieving the very best outcomes for every student.

We know that students thrive when schools and families work together with trust and open communication.

If you ever have questions, concerns or ideas about your child’s education, we encourage you to reach out to us. Talking things through early often helps us to respond quickly and effectively which can mean better outcomes for our students.

What if you have a concern?

Start with us. Contact your child’s teacher or the school office to arrange a conversation. We welcome feedback and see it as an opportunity to improve and better meet the needs of our students.

If you’re not comfortable speaking directly with the school, or you feel your concern hasn’t been fully resolved, there are clear steps to follow.

All Victorian government schools have a Complaints Policy that explains how issues can be raised and escalated, if needed. You'll find our complaints policy here https://www.dpwps.vic.edu.au/policies .  Should you feel your concern hasn’t been resolved after speaking with the school, the Department of Education's Regional Office can assist families in working through concerns.

Deer Park West Primary School is committed to listening respectfully, acting fairly and working together in the best interests of your child. Whether it’s celebrating achievements, solving problems or planning for future learning, we are committed to being a school community where every voice is valued.

Your feedback matters—and your child matters most. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Pride and Integrity Raffle

This raffle recognizes all the students who are attending school on time.  This is to acknowledge the students demonstrating Pride and Integrity by being ready to learn each day.

Every student who is at school, and in their classroom, before the bell (9am) will have their name added to the class attendance box. So, if they are present on time, every day of the week, they will have 5 entries into the raffle.

I will add the Week 3 and Week 4 winners to the newsletter next week.

2025 Term 4 Challenge of the Week

This term’s challenge is a series of Brain Teasers. Some of them will be like riddles, some will be around maths or language.

Congratulations to the following students who will receive 2 PACs for their efforts this week:

Amari (FB) & Kyvaan (3C)

Isla (2A)

Alaa (3A) & Thahira (3A)

Rania (3C) & Arshpreet (3C)

Icy (4A) & Amari (FB)

Week 4: Brain Teasers

You need to try to answer the brain teasers as best you can.
