Grade 2

Welcome Back to Term 4!
Welcome back to an exciting final term of Grade 2! We hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for a fun-filled term of learning and events. As the weather warms up, please remember that hats are required during all outdoor play and activities, including our upcoming House Competition days. “No hat, no play” continues to apply to ensure sun safety for all students.
We also kicked off the term with PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) this week. Students had a fantastic time moving, balancing, throwing, and catching — building coordination and teamwork skills in a fun and active way.
Spelling
This term, we have started exploring the spelling patterns ch, tch, and tion. Students will also be learning some new tricky words. We will continue to focus on understanding spelling rules, recognising patterns, and using these words confidently in both reading and writing.
Writing
In Writing, students are learning all about narratives. We are identifying and writing the key elements of a narrative including the characters, setting, problem, and solution. Students will also practise planning and sequencing events to make their stories more engaging and detailed.
Mathematics
In Maths, we are learning about time — reading o’clock, half past, quarter to, and quarter past times on analogue clocks. We are also exploring measures of turn, using language such as clockwise, anticlockwise, quarter turn, half turn, and full turn through hands-on and practical activities.
