Ballarat Young Authors’ Program

Last Thursday, October 9, students who have been taking part in the Ballarat Young Authors’ Program, attended the final day of workshops in what was a great celebration of the end of the 2025 program.

As a way of celebrating, students were invited to participate in a final celebration where they were involved in an engaging author talk at the Eureka Centre with writer and illustrator Judith Rossell (The Lost Treasure of the Green Iguana, the Stella Montgomery trilogy and her new novel The Midwatch).

Students also had the opportunity to attend an excursion to the Ballarat Mechanics Institute which has been a free library since 1859 and has even hosted Mark Twain under their roof! Whilst there, they took part in a tour as well as a writing workshop in the BMI building.

Lastly, students visited Collins Booksellers on Lydiard where they were able to purchase a book of their choice which was subsidised by the program, as a memory of their time in the Ballarat Young Authors’ Program.

Home Reading

At last Friday’s Grade 5/6 assembly we acknowledged all students in those year levels who have successfully completed 100, 150 or 200 nights of home reading. These students have also demonstrated a great deal of commitment and organisational skills by recording all books that they have read and submitting those details on time each week as part of the homework expectations.  A huge congratulations to the following students:
