We're thrilled to share the joyous celebration that took place on Monday, December 4th, as our Year 6 students marked their graduation with a memorable ceremony and brunch. This momentous occasion wasn't just about acknowledging the outstanding academic, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth of our graduates. It was also a testament to the incredible bonds of friendship and unity that this exceptional group of students shares.
Our special guests Ms Vulin, Mr Ahern and Mr Kiernan were also in attendance, honouring our worthy students with 'The Achieving Your Best' award presented to Chevyleigh R, and the 'Rotary Award' and 'Sports School Victoria' Award to Nature-Rae H.
Our Year 6 graduates have achieved so much, and they should rightfully be proud of their accomplishments thus far. As they move forward, we eagerly anticipate witnessing their continued impact and bright contributions to our community.
Congratulations to our remarkable graduates on this significant milestone – we look forward to watching you shine your light!

Friday, November 24th, was a day of vibrant excitement as our school immersed itself in the colourful festivities of the Colour Explosion Run. Laughter echoed throughout the day as our enthusiastic students navigated the obstacle course, dashing over hay bales, splashing through water fountains, and bounding between tyres.
The oval was a canvas of joy, adorned with radiant smiles that grew even wider as some of our daring teachers embraced being slimed, and everyone enjoyed plenty of icy poles. A colossal round of applause goes to our PTFA for orchestrating this fantastic event. We're incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated parent community tirelessly supporting us. All funds raised will go toward supporting important school initiatives.
During Week 8, on Tuesday (November 28th) and Thursday (November 30th), our Year 6 students transformed into budding entrepreneurs, channeling their efforts into small businesses, all in support of the Australian Lutheran World Service. Their entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as they offered a delightful array of baked goods, frozen treats, plants, and sweet delights to the community.
The success of these businesses was nothing short of remarkable, thanks to the wholehearted support of our school community. This entrepreneurial journey spanned ten weeks, beginning with students pitching their ideas in a 'shark tank' style presentation to secure starting capital from investors. These invaluable investors then mentored and guided our students through refining their business plans.
From these meticulously crafted plans, students brought their stalls to life, continually refining their performance and making crucial adjustments leading up to their final market day. The outcome was truly impressive, with over $1200 raised. This generous sum enabled us to purchase several Gifts of Grace for communities in need, including a School Food Farm, Dis-business-ability resources, Veggie packs, a Mangrove Plant, and supporting Teach to Teach initiatives.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the students, families, and all those involved in supporting this noble cause. Your contributions have made a tangible and meaningful difference!

On the 29th of November, the Preps went on an excursion to ACMI and participated in a full-day workshop that offered an exciting dive into on-set roles and performance. Students got to transform into fantastical fairytale characters and bring order back to Fairy Tale land in a fun and immersive way.
The children learnt about on-set roles, an understanding of the green screen and how it's used, and characterisation and finished the day by watching their own Fairy Tale movie!

In November, as part of their Christian studies, the Preps delved into ways to assist those in need within our community. Pastor Luke Williams, representing the Bless Collective, a local charity, visited Lakeside.
The Prep children gained insights into Bless Collective's work and discovered how their food drive can positively impact many lives. Witnessing the children's enthusiasm and eagerness to make a difference in our community was heartwarming.

During term four, Year five students have been working on a shark tank-like business exhibition to help us develop ideas for next year’s market day stalls to help raise funds for the Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS). Students got into groups to come up with ideas for what they wanted to sell next year. During this process, they created display boards and some groups even made samples!
The planning process was very engrossing and interesting. Most students decided to go off into pairs or groups for this assignment. Some stalls featured food or products, while others were services such as 3D printed figures or cards. Some stalls had cake pops and drinks, whilst others had things like squishies, beads, and slime.
Students enjoyed positive feedback received via paper forms that they gave to people after showing them their presentations. The feedback forms consisted of three questions, with options ranged from 1-4. One being below average, two being average, three being above average and four being excellent..
All around, the exhibition was a rousing success and almost every person received positive feedback. Personally, I believe that if the Year five students use the same ideas, thanks to the extra planning awarded to us because of the exhibition, the stalls will be even better next year, hopefully raising even more money than in previous years.
