Ethan Rees - Wellbeing Captain

Hello Cheltenham Secondary College Community,

My name is Anastasia Karagianni and I’m one of next year’s college captains. I feel privileged to have this opportunity to represent our College in 2024, and am very much excited for what's to come. As College Captain, I want to be able to create an inclusive environment and ensure the College Community is a place where everyone feels empowered to achieve their personal best, and is respected by their peers. Throughout next year I encourage every single student to include themself in an activity, club, production, sporting team, The Exchange or anything that showcases their skills and talents, as we need to build our community spirit here at Cheltenham Secondary College. As much as school is about learning, it should never be a space that makes you feel uncomfortable, and we need Cheltenham to be an environment that brings out our strengths and encourages progression. I am excited to be able to work alongside all of you to make improvements within our College Community and increase student voice so that the changes you want to happen are able to be achieved. I am extremely passionate about involving your ideas in upcoming plans for this year and can’t wait to get started.

Hello students, staff and members of the Cheltenham Secondary College Community.

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself; my name is Zoe Alikakos, and I will be one of your College Captains, alongside Anastasia, in 2024.

High school is a time of growth, unity, discovery and transformation. It’s a pivotal moment in our lives where we have the opportunity to shape our futures. We are all part of the same community, and together we can achieve remarkable things. As a team, we strive to empower each Cheltenham student to their full potential. We will work tirelessly to ensure that our school provides the resources, opportunities, and support needed for every student to excel academically and personally. I remember like it was yesterday when I had Orientation Day in Year 7, and now I am now writing to you, excited to represent Cheltenham as your new 2024 College Captain. But being a College Captain is not just about words; it's about action. It's about rolling up our sleeves and making a difference. We have had a lot of challenges and changes arise at our College in the past years however, we won’t be able to grow and move forward as a College without the support of all of you. So we hope you are as excited as we are for the year 2024, a year where we will make your voice not only heard but valued. Thank you!

Hi people of Cheltenham.

My name is Ethan Rees and I will be our school's Wellbeing Captain in 2024. My goals as Captain are to make people feel safe and loved at this school. It is my firm belief that mental health is one of the most important things in young people's lives, and school can either be a place to nurture good mental health or to deeply degrade it. Unfortunately, the latter has been more prominent in our community as of late. I have struggled with mental health issues and I know of many more people who are not getting the support they need. It is not too late however. By making small tweaks, introducing some programs and having lots of casual clothes day to promote awareness, we can really make a difference here and help people. As you may or may not know, I will be the first Wellbeing Captain at Chelt meaning I’m still figuring out everything my job will entail, so we will need your help. If you have any ideas or know anything that will help you, please don’t be afraid to come up to me or email me and I will be happy to help. If anyone is really struggling and you don’t know how to get help, email me at ree0016@cheltsec.vic.edu.au I’ll help you make the first steps.

Much love,

Ethan
