From the Acting Principal

As the weather warms up and exams are in full swing, it certainly feels like the end of the year is drawing near. Term 4 started with farewelling our Year 12 students as they experienced their last day at school and on Wednesday of this week, we proudly said our formal (and final) goodbyes to the Class of 23 at the Valedictory Dinner which was well attended by students, teachers and parents.

Back at school, our Year 9-11 students have been sitting their exams with an enormous amount of work done by teachers in preparing exams and revision sessions and of course, our students, who have been studiously honing their study skills to ensure they can do their very best at the end of year exams. The following two weeks will see our Year 7 and 8 students sit their exams with our senior students beginning their VCE Ready program and preparing for what is ahead of them next year.

Presentation night on Thursday 7th December as always promises to be a prestigious night as we celebrate the outstanding achievements of students across all year levels and we look forward to recognising these achievements with the school community.

From next week, our 2024 Year 7 students will be welcomed to Chelt.Sec with pre-orientation mornings followed by the state wide orientation day on the 12th December. It is a very special day that starts with many feeling a bundle of nerves in the morning and by the end of the day, they’ve made friends, learnt some teachers’ names and managed to navigate their way around the school without getting too lost! Although it is busy, I think Term 4 is my favourite term as we are privileged to be part of two very special milestones with our Year 12s moving to the next stage of their young adult lives and our Year 7s transitioning from children to teenagers and beginning their secondary school journey. Both of these milestones will be ones our students and their parents will always remember and as teachers and support staff, it’s our greatest privilege to be part of these special moments as we strive to support students in achieving not only a great education but learning how to become the very best versions of themselves.

Finally, our consultation with the community regarding our Master Plan for the new building has started and we have received lots of great feedback from our recent survey. In the next couple of weeks we hope to appoint our architects and the focus for most of next year will be developing plans based on further community consultation – exciting times ahead!!

Kind regards
