Parish Christmas Giving Tree
Parishioners are invited to donate toys, toiletries and non-perishable groceries for distribution locally by St Vincent de Paul.
Donations can be left under the Christmas tree in the Church. Alternatively, envelopes are also available on the Christmas tree for cash donations or gift cards. There will be a box available to put these in.
St Vincent de Paul will collect all items after Sunday Mass on 10th December.
Thank you for your generosity.
Cows Create Careers Winners
You may have read in our last newsletter about some Year 10 Ag/Hort students transforming their teachers into a herd of cows as part of a bid to win the National 'Cows Create Careers' competition. As it turns out all that face painting was worth it, because they won!
After their success at the Regional competition, Sharni, Ruby and Shanikka (known as the Baby Cheeses), were required to create a 60 second video entry highlighting the student's learning and need for the prize money. Of the 44 schools eligible to enter the National competition, it was St Augustine's entry that was the head of the herd! This win has secured $3000 for the College and is an achievement these students should be extremely proud of.
Italian Day
The 8th of November was a Wednesday that felt like a Monday, being the day after the Melbourne Cup. But students at St Augustine’s were able to ease back to normality while enjoying a dress-up day to celebrate all things Italian.
The day started with the collection of gold coin donations for the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project. To recreate “La Dolce Vita” atmosphere, Signora McGlade and Signorina Milani carried the Fontana di Trevi around the school so that students and staff could toss their coins with their right hand over their left shoulder to follow the tradition.
Overall, we were able to raise $281.
At lunch, the canteen was decorated in the Italian colours and also offered traditional food as well as sweet treats in green, white and red.
Students could also join one of the activities: a soccer game on the oval, which was won by a Year 10 team, colouring and crafting in the Library and a scavenger hunt in the 3/4 Auditorium.
La Squadra Italiana would like to say a very big GRAZIE to all staff involved with all the activities and students and parents for joining in the celebrations of Il Bel Paese.

Partnerships learning with Linda
It was great to see Linda Morris, St Augustine's very own Business Manager, work with the Partnerships for the future students around business, profit and loss and inflation recently. According to Mr Poppa, she could have easily stepped in as a CRT.
