From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Official opening of “Kildare” Learning Centre

It is with great pleasure that St Augustine’s College welcomed the Honourable Peter Walsh, Paul Desmond, Chief Executive Officer of Sandhurst Diocese and Most Reverend, Bishop Shane Mackinlay and other distinguished guests to officially open Kildare, an innovative learning space designed for our Years 1 to 4 students, here at St Augustine's College. The event marked a momentous occasion for our school community, as we gathered to celebrate the realisation of a vision that embodies our commitment to providing a nurturing environment for academic growth and personal development. We were honoured to have such distinguished guests join us for this event and we look forward to showcasing the exceptional educational opportunities that Kildare will offer to our students. Thank you for your presence and support as we embark on this exciting new chapter in our educational journey.

I am excited to name our new Years 1-4 Learning Building "Kildare" in honour of the profound legacy and charism of St. Brigid of Kildare.

St. Brigid of Kildare, an exemplar of compassion, knowledge and service, embodies the very essence of our Identity and Vision at St Augustine's College. Through her unwavering dedication to education and her compassionate care for the marginalised, St. Brigid provides us with a name for nurturing young minds and hearts.

The name Kildare serves as a reminder of St. Brigid's transformative influence on the community of Kildare, Ireland. Her establishment of a vibrant centre for learning, characterised by its inclusivity and focus on nurturing both intellectual and spiritual growth, mirrors our own commitment to providing a holistic education to the young learners within our care.

In the spirit of St. Brigid, the Kildare Learning Building will be a space where curiosity is ignited, where knowledge is nurtured and where the seeds of empathy, kindness and service are sown. This building will serve as a place of learning, where our Years 1-4 students will embark on their educational journeys, guided by the principles of our patron saint.

Furthermore, St. Brigid's dedication to social justice and her tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the poor and vulnerable, resonate deeply with the ethos of St Augustine's College. By naming this building "Kildare", we aim to instil in our young learners a sense of responsibility towards their local and global communities. We envision a space where students are empowered to be compassionate leaders, inspired by the legacy of St. Brigid, who sought to bring positive change to the world around her.
