Year 7 News
Vermont Secondary College
As I write, I’m reflecting on how far the Year 7s have progressed this year. Apart from the growth spurts, many students have grown in confidence as they’ve developed as Year 7s at VSC. We have all enjoyed getting to know our House student cohorts, and forming positive working relationships along the way.
We have watched some students grow into responsible, caring student leaders too. We would like to thank our House class leaders for stepping up into leadership roles this year. Thank you to Hotham leaders – Zoey, Emily, Mia, David; Stirling – Arjun, Kaveri, Summer, Darcey; and Macedon – Ayaan, Blake, Sophie, Setiya. And thank you to the Digital Abassadors and to the many students who participated in music ensembles, choir, the musical, and to those who represented VSC in District, Region and even State sporting/athletic competitions.
Next week students will commence Transition Year 8 classes in preparation for Year 8 in 2024.
All students have been made aware that the Year 7 home group classes from this year have been collapsed and new classes are due to go “live” on COMPASS on Friday Nov 24th. Students will need to consult COMPASS and check their timetables before they come to school on Monday November 27th.
For the two weeks of Transition classes, student are not expected to have purchased new materials/texts. We do require that students take their electronic devices, pens/pencils and a workbook (or paper to write on to all classes.)
– Friday December 8, Period 3
On this day, students will be asked to have their lockers emptied, cleaned and all books/materials are to be taken home. If
your student is departing the school earlier than this date and/or not returning to the school next year, please ensure lockers are emptied prior to this date. Locks will be cut off lockers and abandoned materials disposed of so that the lockers can be reallocated in preparation for new students next year. Year 8 lockers will be allocated in 2024 when students return to school with their books.
Thank you to the Year 7 Science teachers for organising excursions to the Zoo In November. A fun time was had by all.
