Principals Report
Dear fellow Chasers,
Greetings from the picturesque city of Christchurch, New Zealand! I am delighted to share with you the incredible experiences and insights we have gained during our study tour here. Our leadership team has been fortunate to visit four exceptional schools: Sacred Heart, Thorrington, St Joseph's, and Kaiapoi North. The dedication and professionalism of the educators we have encountered has been truly inspiring.
This study tour, focused on advancing our mathematics curriculum, has been made possible by the generous support of the Menzies Foundation Fellowship. This philanthropic organization is committed to fostering innovative educational practices and encouraging collaboration among schools. Thanks to their support, we have had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field and bring back valuable knowledge to Berwick Chase.
Our visits to these schools have been nothing short of enlightening. At Sacred Heart, we observed how integrating technology in the classroom can enhance student engagement and understanding of complex mathematical concepts. Thorrington impressed us with its emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning, allowing students to explore mathematics in real-world contexts. St Joseph's showcased their successful approach to differentiated instruction, ensuring that every student's individual needs are met. At Kaiapoi North, we were inspired by their strong community involvement and how it enriches the learning environment.
These experiences have reinforced the importance of passion and professionalism in education. The educators we have met are not only knowledgeable but also deeply committed to their students' success. They have graciously opened their schools to us, sharing their strategies and insights, and we are incredibly grateful for their hospitality and generosity.
Today, we are working closely with our Mathematics Consultant to plan the next stages of Berwick Chase’s strategic plan. This collaboration is crucial as we aim to implement the best practices we have observed and tailor them to our unique school environment. Our goal is to create a dynamic and engaging mathematics program that fosters a love for learning and prepares our students for the challenges of the future.
As we continue our journey, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Berwick Chase. The knowledge and inspiration we are gaining here will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our school community. We look forward to sharing more detailed plans and initiatives with you in the coming months.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school. Together, we are making Berwick Chase a place where every student can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Warm regards,
Chris Short
