Australian Mathematics Competition
The Australian Mathematics Competition is being held in Term 3. A note was emailed to all families of year 3 to 6 students with details of this optional competition.
First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students. Many St Cecilia's students have participated in this challenging competition over the years.
Like all of there competitions, the AMC contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend your students’ problem-solving skills.

- Middle Primary – Australian Years 3 and 4
- Upper Primary – Australian Years 5 and 6
- Junior – Australian Years 7 and 8
- Intermediate – Australian Years 9 and 10
- Senior – Australian Years 11 and 12

- Basic arithmetic
- Fractions and ratios
- Algebra and pre-algebra
- Geometry
- Measurement
- Statistics and probability
- Problem-solving (including enumeration)
QUESTION AND ANSWER FORMAT
- 30 questions – 25 multiple-choice, 5 integer

Competition details have been emiled to all Year 3 to 6 families. Payment of $8.50 is due Wednesday 24th July through CDFPay. This will also serve as a 'permission slip.'
The 60 minute competition will be held online at school between Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 August 2024
