Regional Cross Country - Thursday June 13

Another huge congratulations to Jake who competed in the Regional Cross Country at Yarra Glen last week. Jake remarkably won his race in very trying conditions and now moves on to the State Championships in term 3. Commiserations to Michaela, who qualified but was unable to compete due to illness. We know you will be back better than ever next year!

Senior Hooptime - Friday June 14

The Year 5/6 students traveled to Waverley basketball stadium last Friday to participate in the Senior Hooptime day. Despite a little hiccup with the buses at the start of the day, the students all acquitted themselves exceptionally and it was another wonderful experience for all of St Cecilia's students who represented the school very proudly.

Students of all experience levels demonstrated great sportsmanship and had lots of fun competing against schools from around the area.

It was a particularly successful day for the Allstar Boys team who managed to win their way through to the next round, by having an impressive win in the grand final match on the day.

Thank you to the parents who came along to support the students on the day. Thank you also to some special guest coaches, including Xavier N, and Ms Louise's son, Harrison, who both did a wonderful job guiding the kids in their teams.

Finally, thank you to all the staff, in particular Teresa Galgani for the preparation and dedication to providing another wonderful experience for the students.

House Athletics Carnival - Monday, 17th June 2024

Thank you so much to everyone today who both attended and assisted with our House Athletics Carnival for 2024, what a massive team effort!

A wonderful day that the children will no doubt remember! The students had so much fun! The day couldn't happen without the support of you!

The cheering, marshalling, adjudicating, measuring, raking, scoring, encouraging and nothing-is-too-much attitude - you all made the day not only possible, but an incredibly positive and enjoyable one for each of the students.

Thank you so much!

Congratulations to O'Connor (Red) House for coming away with the win on the day.

As ordered, we even got a lovely sunny winter day - perfect!

Thanks again,

Katherine

Yr 5/6 Interschool Sport In Review

Over the past two weeks the Year 5/6 students have concluded their Interschool Sport season for 2024. I was lucky enough to get the call up to help coach the soccer team last Thursday. In what must be said, were pretty oppressive conditions, the team did a great job, fighting out a draw in constant rain. On the day, both the softball and soccer teams exemplified the spirit and attitude the students from St Cecilia's have shown throughout the season. The senior students have competed with determination and grace throughout the season, showing great improvement in their particular sports and always treating the opposition with great respect. The value of programs such as these is clear when you witness on a weekly basis the teamwork, learning how to fail and succeed with humility, and the way in which the students learned to sacrifice and compromise for the good of the team.

Once again, thank you to all the staff for all their efforts to make interschool sport happen. Special thanks to Teresa, who demonstrated her usual unwavering dedication to preparing everything needed to make everything run like clockwork.
